Most of the celebs "borrow" these from various places ... e.g., Neil Lane, Fred Leighton, Harry Winston for these events. The only exception is likely Victoria Beckham who has made it very clear that she doesn't "borrow" any jewels because her husband has bought a number of lovely pieces for her (lucky her, right?!?!).
So, here's the downside of having earrings like this (I splurged after Y2K and bought myself a pair of 6cttw diamond studs - 3ct each ear) ... I almost always NEVER wear them for fear of losing one!

Yeah, that makes sense for Oprah ... she certainly has the $$$ to have bought her own!
JLo's are ridiculous! Holy smokes! I think the size of Kelly Rippa's is as big as I would want to go.
I love big diamond studs Kimora has an awesome collection and JLos are huge wow! I would love to have a pair her size hey if you're gonna do it do it up! I would want mine to be pink diamonds though, theyd look really cool against my offbeat style and wild hair.
I think Kevin Garnett (basket ball players) studs are his own and not borrowed. He has been sporting those huge rocks in his ears forever.
