Cartier tank solo vs francaise vs panthere

I think it depends on your overall style. The Panthere is the most striking on your wrist and would suit you if your sartorial style is more put-together and elegant, while the TF is more casual/understated and would go well with athleisure or minimalist/androgynous outfits. I personally don't like the Tank Solo/Must. I'm in my early 30s and have the SS TF but can see myself upgrading to the Panthere (YG and/or with diamonds) in my 40s.

My vote is for the tf or tank must in stainless steel. It wraps around your wrist nicely. The panthere is going through a revival but it’s an older style, really screams 80s to me.

I think @beesknees2 sums it up well. I agree the Tank styles are more casual and almost masculine, especially the Francaise with the brushed metal and the solid looking bracelet. The Panthere is definitely more feminine and I absolutely love the bracelet on it! Depends on your personal style, but I like the Panthere best (without diamonds).

Good luck deciding and you really can’t go wrong with any of them! Congrats on your anniversary!

@beesknees2 thanks for your thoughts.

I wear an Apple Watch to work (I work in social services so a Cartier isn’t really a great idea)
So it’s for going out weekends days with the the girls
I did love the panthere as it looked more like jewellery but everyone keeps saying the tank solo/mist is more classic and elegant so I am
So confused

I genuinely like all of them on you - I don't think you can go wrong! But since you're trying to rank them with feedback... My personal favorite on you is the panthere, even without diamonds, but in that same size. I think the square (as vs. rectangular shape) is just prettier, more feminine, and pleasing to look at. I purchased a tank style watch (not Cartier, just an entry-level swiss) and though I thought I loved the shape (in theory!) on my wrist it looks too masculine to me and I end up not wearing. I liked the tank in last pic (on SS bracelet) because it shows off the Cartier numerals so nicely! The TF looks nice and solid and classy, but it doesn't stand out as much to me... but perhaps subtle is what you're seeking andI do love that it hugs the wrist more than the other tanks. My least favorite is on the leather strap. Soooo... in order, my choice on you would be 1 Panthere, 2 TF, 3 Tank (Must or Solo?) on SS, and last is Tank on leather. Good luck choosing and congrats!

Thanks so much @Suzi4444 I absolutely loved the panthere the most in store for the reasons you describe. I had my heart set on tank when I started looking but keep being drawn back to the Panthere. I just dont want to regret getting the Panthere when for years it was always the tank. Terrible at making decisions as well

...oh I just read your post about this being a going out watch, not an everyday office one, which makes me vote for the panthere even more! I get that it's not as classic as the tank look, but I think a pretty watch fits your intended use more!

Agreeing with everything beesknees2 said. The panthere definitely is stunning on you! francaise is more low key, everyday vibe.

Oh if this is a weekend/going out watch, I'd definitely go for the Panthere! The TF is a great work watch, especially if you work in fields that require non-flashy attire. Since you already have an Apple watch you wear to work, the Panthere would fill a gap in your wardrobe. Plus, watches are very personal and you definitely don't need to go for the most "classic" option.

@ronnie20 you just listed all my pros in the panthere column

@beesknees2 yes I may sometimes wear it out and about casually but it’s mainly a going out watch.

I guess I find the tank the most timeless and classic. It’s been around forever it’s the watch I think of when I think Cartier watches

however the panthere was the one I was drawn to when I tried them on I loved the bracelet and the shine that touch of glamour
I think another trip to Cartier is in order. I think I tried on the medium panthere and not sure I can afford that even second hand

The classic look of the tank is undeniable! That picture of Jackie O wearing a simple, elegant tank sparked my own interest in Cartier watches (and watches in general) to begin with! Whichever you choose, you're going to end up with a gorgeous Cartier watch, which is wonderful! Another visit is a great idea - and be sure to try them on looking in a large mirror from a little distance, not just on your wrist and maybe you'll get closer to a decision (from a person who also has trouble deciding on these things, hence lots of time on the watch forums!)

I think that is what I am attracted to with the tank the link to its classic heritage. I think if I was just to choose a watch without that element it would be the Panthere.

Plus, watches are very personal and you definitely don't need to go for the most "classic" option.

I have to remind myself of this. Just because it is the most well known classic one doesn't mean I have to go that way.

I am the WORST at making decisions

Definitely another trip to the boutique is needed. I get that the Tank is synonymous with Cartier’s heritage but the Panthere almost has a 40 year history as well, and the square face hearkens back to Cartier’s first wristwatch Santos from 1904! No matter how much you research something online, it’s a completely different matter when you actually try these on IRL. Go with what makes you smile the most and your heart sing, not with what your tells you you “should” get.
