I have Ballon Bleu 28, it was purchased in spring 2008. I have not as yet had to replace the battery. It keeps perfect time, in general automatics are poorer timekeepers.

Thanks for the thoughts, I will probably buy another watch in the next year or two but I also like to go buy the look but for the cost thought automatic would be better. I received the watch today and the 28 mm looks really nice on me so I will probably end up keeping and look into another watch later. So I wanted the automatic but only the 28 fit me. The way I saw it is I don't want to have to pay 500 a couple of times over the course of 10 years and by then I'll be able to get the gold version or a patek. I think for the price it's ok for it being Quartz. Mine was about that price band it was completely stainless steel. If you think you won't buy another good watch for a very long time THEN wait for an automatic. But if you're going to collect watches, I think getting a cartier Quartz is fine, and then your next watch will be automatic.
Thanks for your opinion. I thin I might keep the 28 mm it's in amazing re0owned condition and looks really good on.I have Ballon Bleu 28, it was purchased in spring 2008. I have not as yet had to replace the battery. It keeps perfect time, in general automatics are poorer timekeepers.
Very true. I do love the look of it.Clearly a huge part of buying a watch is the look of the watch so if you love the look of the BB and its a good price, personally, I would go with it. I have a cartier with Quartz movement and it doesn't make any difference to me. Just my 2 cents.
I'm not a serious watch collector by any means bags are more my thing but I do want to have a few nice quality watches. I think this will be my first.I see the various Cartier Tanks on several flash sites all the time. They are pre-owned and the prices are very high in my opinion. They are quartz. So if anyone is concerned about resell value, I'd say don't worry about it. Buy what you want for the esthetic of it.
Now serious watch collectors want only automatic. But I think they tend not to buy Cartier anyway.
