Hi ladies, I'm extremely fickle-minded and need some advice please! First big luxury purchases have been on my mind this year. I had been planning to buy the Love bracelet at the end of the year for a milestone but I also got my hands on a small coco handle last week after visiting numerous boutiques; this was a spontaneous purchase that just happened on a post-quarantine trip. I justified it by saying it's to commemorate my first trip after so long!

When it comes to Chanel, my dream bag is the mini rectangle in caviar but it doesn't come in caviar anymore. I don't want to go the secondhand route, so the coco handle is the next best thing since it's caviar and looks the most similar; however, the fit is a bit awkward as it's not meant to be used as a crossbody (my favorite way to carry bags). It looks bulky when used as crossbody and the strap is too short. Even if the strap were longer, that doesn't fix the bulky part. When worn on the shoulder as it was intended to or when carried handheld, I do think it looks really cute and the bag is very cute overall. Although I don't love the bag 100%, I do like it a lot. I'm hesitant to return it because part of me is like, what if there's a price increase and I regret not keeping it and also I don't want a return on my record for my only purchase! :crybaby:

At first I was thinking I could keep the coco handle and buy another bag in the future but after lots of thinking, I decided that I want this to be my daily bag for years to come and don't want anymore bags... until I see something that absolutely speaks to me down the line. :graucho: Other options are to replace it with the Celine belt bag (but it's also bulky and odd as crossbody)which I've always loved (half the price), or wait for the mini rectangle to come back, if ever.

Now that the Cartier price increase has been confirmed, I'm wondering if I should return the coco handle and get the Cartier? The only drawback is that it would no longer be purchased during the milestone time that I wanted it for (less meaning). Or should I keep Chanel and also buy Cartier? It's a LOT of purchases in one month and I can't help but feel guilty; I already feel guilty over the bag. I can afford it, I'm just not used to luxury purchases and everything in me is saying the money should go towards saving for a house.

As for the Cartier pieces, I can't decide between the classic plain Love (pictured is diamond but I prefer plain) or the small JUC. Initially, I wanted the Love since it's more classic but after trying on the JUC, so many people have said that it looks better on my wrist. I keep hearing that the Love is super hyped right now and I think the JUC is also slightly more unique than the Love since less people have it.

Sorry for the long post, this is basically what I'm asking:
1) Should I keep the Coco Handle?
2) Should I get the Cartier now or wait for the milestone so that it has meaning?
3) Love or JUC?

I think you should return the coco handle and get either the small juc or love bracelet. If you don’t love the coco handle now, you’re not going to love it for years to come, especially because it will never be a great crossbody for you. I love crossbody bags too, and I opted for the mini rectangular in caviar with the top handle that was released in the 21s collection. You should wait for the perfect bag.
And the love bracelet/ JUC is worth getting now because you know you will love it, it is just the timing of the purchase that is throwing you off. You can always buy it now but wait until your milestone to unbox!

I’d return the coco handle, cause I can tell you’re not so sure about it. Personally I’m not a fan of the coco handle and don’t think it’s a classic… nor modern. Nor practical. If you’re settling for the coco handle in place of a mini flap, I feel like they’re not even comparable in terms of style!

Between the JUC or love, you should choose which you prefer! Don’t let anyone else decide for you. Personally though, I would choose the classic love over the small JUC. If we’re talking classic love vs. classic JUC then again… personal preference!

Sorry it was not clear to me what do u want to get from cartier. If u afford to get both cartier and chanel, get both. However, i feel that u are not in love with the coco handle and want to keep it only in case price goes up. So does stock price. If u dont love something, dont just get it because it will be more exp in future. U can alwwys invest the money in stocks.
So my suggestions:
1. Get both if u love both
2. I have a good chanel bag collection by now but i love my cartier bracelets anyday much more than any of my bags. I wear the bracelets daily and feel sooo happy about them. So if u have to pick between a bag and a bracelet, i will suggest the bracelet over the coco
3. If u are not in love with either cartier or chanel bag.. and just want to get because of the upcoming price increase, please invest the money in stocks/bonds.. wait till u fall in love with a piece completely to get it even its more expensive that time.

Agree with the advice above. Sounds like you really want a great bag for daily use. And for you the CCH doesn’t quite fit that bill.

In that case I’d let go of it and get the bracelet because you will wear that daily and get so much use of it. It may not increase in retail value as fast as Chanel but if it’s a forever piece that you see and love daily, it’s worth it.

When the right bag comes along (and it will!) get that.

Thank you so much for this advice. Updated my post to be more clear about what I want from Cartier.

I do love both the coco and the cartier but I would have to wear the coco as a shoulder bag instead of crossbody which is something that I'd have to get used to. I am sooo indecisive.. :wtf:

Wait on the Cartier bc you aren’t sure which one to get.

if you absolutely need a cross body and cannot make the coco handle work, sell it and look for another alternative.

however, I’m not sentimental (re timing) and I don’t want to rush to buy anything bc I’m concerned about price increases.

I think there are two threads on this subject?

here is what I posted on the other one

If you don't truly love everything about the coco handle, return it. Get the Love bracelet. No, you aren't getting it at a milestone time, but there is probably little point in keeping a bag that you don't love just because it was during your first trip in a long time. If you don't absolutely adore something, and you can't wear it the way you want to because the strap is too short and it looks bulky wearing it the way you want to, it probably won't get as much wear as it should. The most expensive items, are ones a person never wears because its not really the piece they wanted or the fit is wrong.

My vote would be return the coco handle, and get the Love. You can get the Love bracelet you want, it will fit you correctly, and you will get many years of enjoyment and smiles each time you look at it on your wrist. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you ladies for your help!!! Truly appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Do you know if having a return on my record for my first/only Chanel purchase would look bad if I try to get something in the future?

returning won't look bad.
Any day the cartier bracelets win. I love both my love and JUC equally but for diff reasons.I never remove my love bracelet and its very comfortable for daily wear. I find JUC much more prettier but I cannot wear it daily - its uncomfortable for long wear and hence keep it for special occasions.
