Cartier Love Bracelet: Interference with wrist bone?

Darkangel - Our paths have crossed many times. We stop in the SF store on every trip to the city, which is 4 or 5 times a year. We've found them so helpful in fact, that even though we live in LA and are much closer to the BH store, we tend to buy from SF. Have even had them ship items to us. Our fav SF - SA Oscar seems to be gone now, but we made contact with a new girl a couple of weeks ago on our last trip. Have never had a problem with trying on the real thing. They either 'eyeball' the size, or use the sizer to get close and them bring out an assortment to try. They won't screw them on though. I've been considering one; every time we're in a store I'll try it on for grins. So far have tried on the real bracelet in Palo Alto (now closed), SF, BH, SCP, and Topanga! I'm an electrician and I'm really not able to wear one for now. May just have to buy the wife another one! Bob

Wow. I do NOT like that the SA's said that to you. I would ask to speak to the manager, and explain that you need to try on a 16 and a 17 because of your issue with your wrist bone. It's not like you are going to try on Love bracelets all day; you just need to know which one will fit you best.
I go to the Cartier in San Francisco, and they let my SO try on actual love bracelets because he was trying to decide between a yg or a rg.
I hope that you get better service with the manager!

I was between size 16 and size 17 in the bangle too. The SA thought I should go with the 16 which just fit. I thought, God forbid if I ever gain weight - I might really have a problem. So I went with the 17 and I'm very happy with my decision.

@hockeygirl: I actually asked the SA to try on the floor model. She took the bracelet out of the case, held it in her fingers, and hesitated. Then, she spit out that excuse to me.

@covetit: Thanks for your input as well! It's good to hear comparisons between the sizers and the actual bracelet.

@darkangel07760: I know, RIGHT? Thank you for validating my feelings on the experience! The negative instance I described was actually at the Cartier boutique in SF. I have no issue pointing out which SA it was either, if you're curious. The previous time I visited this location, I received an even worse experience. I was ignored for 45 minutes. A group of Asian tourists entered the store after me, and they were helped prior to me. I am not one who demands superb customer service, but these two instances were clearly sub-par to me.

@Splurgeface: Because I'm not "someone." Yeah, do they really think they are someone special themselves?? Oops! Did I just say that? :sneaky:

@avcbob: Sorry, my accounts negate your experiences with the SF location. I'm 2 for 2 with negative encounters at this boutique.

@Hokaplan: Thanks for sharing your decision process! Were you also concerned with your wrist bone?

@kohl_mascara & @kimber418: Thanks for sharing your personal experiences with the Love bracelet! This is exactly the data I need to collect for my decision, haha!

@Camswife: I have only been sized with the sizer. I live near two Cartier boutiques, and the SAs from both would not allow me try the Love bracelet. They responded with a very lame: "If you tried it on, then the person who buys this won't be the first person to have worn it." Ugh.

There was a thread about this not that long ago. It seems that different Cartier boutiques have different policies regarding trying the actual bracelet on or only a sizer which is quite a bit narrower then the actual bracelet. It is strange that they aren't consistent, one boutique I went to brought the actual bracelet to try on right away and even screwed it on and another they only offered the sizer and said that screwing and unscrewing the screws often will damage the screw which I have heard before. They definitely should have some bracelets for the sole purpose of trying the bracelet on, esp. since it is something that is meant to be worn all the time.

@chanel-girl: Thanks for the thread reference, but as I mentioned in my original post, I've definitely done my research in reading (multiple times) all previous posts regarding the Cartier Love Bracelet. I was simply sharing the reason why I was unable to try on the actual bracelet, when another member inquired. I am actually more concerned about my original issue of the clearance between the wrist bone and the bracelet. But thanks for chiming in!

@chanel-girl: Thank you for contributing and being so willing to help! By the way, your 4-diamond YG Love bracelet is drop dead gorgeous!!!

@Hokaplan: Good to know, thanks!

@nakedmosher2of3: Yay! Someone who can relate to my knobby wristbone structure. I'll definitely let you know what I ultimately decide on how it works (or doesn't) for me.

@SophiaLee: omg, that is the BEST idea yet! Why haven't the "special" SAs who work at Cartier come up with something like that? It's not like they have to design new molds/patterns/processes/etc. They would need to make several tweaks, as metals of various types do flow and form differently. Cartier easily rakes in enough profit to invest in a resource like this for their clients!

Sorry for being MIA after I asked about the sizer. I had the same issue I tried on the size 16 sizer and it felt terrible and small (SA wouldn't let me try on the actual bracelet). So I tired the 17 sizer which felt huge. I left the store confused and disappointed. I went back a few months later and encountered a different SA who quickly pulled out the actual bracelet and let me try it on. I was surprised as to how different the real thing and the sizer is. I now wear a size 16 YG and it's perfection. I would return and explain that you want to buy one but aren't willing without trying it on, if they say no ask for a supervisor. It's too much money to not be fully satisfied (and their return policy is awful on the love). Sorry for the rant its just upsetting that people are willing to spend so much money but don't receive adequate customer service.

And great idea on making a steel one for size reference!!

I ususally deal with Rand when we visit the SF Cartier! He is always quite helpful. I am sad that the one in Palo Alto closed... I got a letter from Cartier that I believe it moved to the Fashion Valley mall? Which is a shame, because the Stanford Shopping Center is the nicest "mall" I have ever been to! Would you consider getting a cuff? Then you owuld be able to take it off when you go to work?

We'll have to look up Rand on our next visit. As for the cuff, I tried one on and didn't care for it. I'm going to hold out for the bracelet one day. Where is 'Fashion Valley Mall'? Is that the one over in the area of Great America? If so, I can see why you are bummed!

@Camswife: Thank you for sharing your personal experience with the Love bracelet sizing, as it definitely helps me immensely! I am also happy to hear that a size 16 ended up being perfect for you!
