Cartier JUC closures

I have an opportunity to buy a JUC with the old closure/hinge through the boutique. I’d be stacking with my love which is on the looser side. Thinking the old mechanism may be more secure especially if I have more movement than normal. Thoughts??

I don’t know much about the new closure on the JUC. I did try the bracelet on when the JUC was first introduced by Cartier in 2011 or 2012. The original closure felt very secure but I think people found it a little difficult putting the bracelet on and taking it off. I really liked the JUC but decided on a second Love at that time. When I wanted to add the JUC with my Loves, the original closure was no longer available and I didn’t feel the new model was as secure. Long story short, if you want the JUC and the boutique is offering the older model I would grab it. The general rule of thumb is to buy the JUC one size smaller than the Love. HTH

Absolutely would go with it. At the time I bought mine they were phasing out any remaining pieces of the old one but luckily still had a few around in the main location shipped to the location I was buying from.

The new mechanism is definitely easier to take off but I chose the old one for a few reasons:

1) The new one when you shook it made a slight rattling sound to it due to the mechanism being a button that moved - I didn't like that it was making any sort of sound like that.

2) The new one once the button was pressed almost popped off - was afraid if somehow it pressed against my arm and I didn't notice it would just fall off somewhere - the old one just felt so much more secure.

On the other hand the new one has a different look to it - if you look at it from the side where the nail is secured into the bracelet it's a "full" illusion of a nail - no keyhole opening/gap like the old one.

So I received the bracelet today and the hinge was uneven. Luckily there were two in the system (1 being from a boutique in Orlando that was shipped to me and the other from the warehouse). SA is having the warehouse piece shipped to her to inspect before sending it to me. SO in love with the JUC. I may even like it better than my love. Fingers crossed it’s in perfect condition. Can’t belive how beautifully it stacks.

I totally agree. The fact that there are two fewer diamonds and that aesthetically the new version is more “complete” was overshadowed by the feeling of security that the old closure offers.

I purchased the clou with the new mechanism. This is how the closure looks like from the hook side. The whole part with the horizontal screw markings is squeezed with your finger before you can pull apart to open. I like it and i havent had a problem. SA told me no one has had their clou loosen and drop off, unlike the love bracelet.
