Cartier exhibition in London V&A

I was there on Thursday - it was heaving and not as well planned and organised as others I’ve been to. The jewellery is phenomenal but there are so many of us looking in small windows that it’s quite challenging. The room with the tiaras on display in separate cases is much better planned so you can see them in detail - if you saw the Faberge exhibition it has the same layout where the imperial eggs were in separate display cases and you could view them from all sides.
The area where there is a display of watches is a pinch point and probably needs rethinking - two cases on either side of a narrow walkway wasn’t great.
I have an 830 pm reservation- hoping heavers have headed to bars by then

Agree with most of this. Have V&A membership so decided on a whim to pop in, as today's weather was grey and a constant drizzle. Slow moving due to crowds taking their time at the displays, moving clockwise around the rooms but I totally enjoyed it at my leisure. Will go back again next week as bringing a friend. Allocate at least an hour and a half to two, and this on a quiet afternoon.
The jewellery is phenomenal and I personally enjoyed seeing the pieces on loan from the King, especially those worn by the late Queen.
Mechanise range was disappointing.

Has anyone got any more reviews for the exhibition? I’m due to go on Saturday at 11am but the weather is due to be so hot I’m now debating whether it’s worth the 2hr trip to London on the hottest day of the year! Really want to see all the beautiful jewellery but don’t know if it’ll be mega busy and not worth it. TIA

I enjoyed it - unexpected much more information around the designs and the inspiration though. I.e there was a woman walking around who said “what’s with all the big cat designs?”

I’d go, but I don’t let weather stop me on these things.

I live in the US, and I booked a flight in August to hop across the pond to see this exhibition.
The V&A has a lot of great exhibitions (e.g. Pearls, Faberge), and before I go, I like to buy the exhibition book to review the pieces first. I can then have a better appreciation and understanding of the pieces when I see them live.

In case anyone is interested in doing this and does not live in the UK to buy the exhibition book at the museum, you can order it on amazon:

Also, as FYI, if you are a V&A member, you can see the exhibition for free, unlimited times, no reservation required. I am a member, and it makes getting into these exhibitions so much easier. It works out great.

Hope this helps.
