Cartier complaints!! (and a question about polishing)

That's strange it should have only taken 1 week 2 tops!

Says who? I wasn't quoted 1 or 2 weeks. It was promised in 4 weeks and delivered within that time frame. My DH has been quoted similar time frames (and even longer) to have his Rolex serviced. As I mentioned before, even polishing a tiny, Tiffany key necklace took 4 weeks - so it really came as no surprise that my watch took the same amount of time. I was actually expecting it to be longer since it was a complete service.
I can't speak to the service claims (the claims that perhaps Cartier provides more service than necessary), but I think that when it comes to turnaround times, people have unrealistic expectations. 4 weeks is normal and standard in my experiences. If others have been promised a week or two, and have received their watches within that time frame, great! I, however, have no problem being quoted 4 weeks and getting my watch back within that time as promised.

Let me start this by saying I don't have a Cartier watch so I don't know from Cartier experience.
I do have a Rolex and Rolex recommends having your jeweler do a professional cleaning every year.
They cost about what you paid for the Cartier cleaning.
I do agree that they should have called you and told you what the price was before they did the work.
Also, it's very hard to get a quote for anything over the phone sight unseen.
Since the store manager was incorrect in his knowledge of price repairs, you can't complain to HIM ,but he does have a boss ( probably a district or area manager .)
You can also email Cartier customer service but it probably wont be read by someone with power.
I understand your frustration .
Update us when you pick it up.

Cartier lost a class action lawsuit regarding their watch repairing service. Numerous watches were deemed requiring a complete overhaul when in most cases all that was needed was a simple battery replacement. As for the turn around time, it sounds very reasonable. My glashutte watches take over 4 months to have serviced, but then again they have to be sent back to Germany for servicing.

This may be OT, but do you know if this lawsuit has impacted their policies? I have a 4 yo Pasha de Cartier and I wanted to get it checked, but I don't want to pay for service it doesn't need!

My best experience is in Japan , and then short hills,NJ, and then the fifth ave boutique. I have to say there are SAs in 5th ave does not make me feel good. They are too busy to even offer help.

The Short Hills boutique is great. They are very polite and are always willing to help you, and will most likely shine jewelry with no questions asked. I haven't been to the 5th Ave boutique but I do recommend Short Hills.
