Cartier Classic 1895 vs. Tiffany Classic

I've tried both on and agree with the OP that the six prongs makes the diamond look bigger. Another added plus is that IF a prong does break, you have five more holding it in, versus three in the Cartier. I just loved the way the Tiffany solitaire looked on my hand. The Cartier was pretty but it didn't wow me as much as Tiffany.

SA pointed out that the six prong is designed to better protect the diamond. That's when DH shaked his head hard and stated he wants to protect our 5 months old not a diamond.

Haha, it's true that protecting your child is worth much more than a diamond, but that diamond is also an investment. I would say it's worth it to insure my diamond that's worth/costs tens of thousands of dollars stays put in my ring! However, it's really up to your taste and what you think looks best on you!

the harry winston solitaire for 0.9 carat is 14500 usd. not too bad the price.
i dont think there is a huge difference when u see the ring of a size 0.9 carat compare to a 1 carat. lol..
i agree with kohl, the cartier dont wow me as much as the tiffany 6 prong. actually i prefer the 4 prong more becoz the diamond wont look so round. but there is something about that tiffany 6 prong. i feel the knife edge band + the setting n diamond makes it wow. hope it makes sense.

honeybeez, I am looking for size 1.5 to 1.75 carat. If I go harry winston then I will have to go down in size to keep my word to DH that I would stay in my planned budget. Perhaps, the next upgrade will be Harry Winston. Plus DH dresses very casual and hates shopping luxury brand with me. No way I can drag him into Harry Winston. In fact, the told me to "buy now" last time we were at Tiffany so no more ring shopping for him.
