Cartier Bracelet vs Hermes Bag

This sort of just happened to me lol. I agree w the above poster that a B or K isn’t guaranteed so it’s hard to pass up on a guaranteed bracelet when you only have the hope of the B or K. That said, I truly believe in manifestation lol. I was at a Cartier location in Paris looking at the 4 diamond love but was also hoping to get an appointment at H. I knew if I got the bracelet there would be no way I could get the bag so I didnt buy it - if I want it later it will be available anyway. The very next day I was offered a Kelly!

All in all, I would wait and try for the B or K first because the love bracelet will likely be available whenever you decide to get it! If it not the specs you want just walk right over to a Cartier in Paris for a special experience (:

I feel like if you calculate what the supposed increase would be (like right now the love is $6,550 and with a 5-6% increase it would be roughly between 6,850 and 6,950 then the difference would be between 3-400 bucks)

Then you can decide if the potential of being offered an H bag you like is worth 3-400 bucks hit you’d take if waiting on the love bracelet. Because you know the love will most likely always be there.

I’m not sure if I articulated that well. It’s early and I haven’t had coffee yet lol.

I think I’d personally go with the Love bracelet, but it kind of depends on how long you’re going to be in France and your personality.
For me I can enjoy my bracelet 24/7 and my B isn’t really appropriate for work so is more infrequent use. I also wouldn’t want to spend an entire holiday (assuming this is a holiday) pinning my hopes on firstly getting an appointment and secondly (if successful) being offered something I’d really love. I just think I’d be too disappointed if it didn’t happen and may spoil the trip somewhat.
That said, I do agree with others that a Love is easy to get at any time, so a B or K makes sense to be purchased first if available.
Then again, if you’re open to preloved it’s not really hard to get the bag either, so just depends on your priorities and if you can easily shrug off not getting that appointment in Paris!

Just to be devil's advocate... It might be possible to get a B/K in Paris FSH without an appointment. I flew to Paris last summer after trying for an appointment 4, maybe 5 times. No appointment and I flew there by myself solely to try my luck and I came home with a B that I still love so dearly.

Spend an hour or two trying for the B/K, if not, go get the Love. For what it's worth, I just got my first Cartier piece last week and now I do feel like my loyalty is split between H and Cartier future purchases so I feel your struggle.

Definitely! That is such a helpful way of looking at it. Essentially would be paying a $300/400 “holding fee” to try first for a b/k. I see your point.

If “near future” is within the next month or so, you can purchase the Love bracelet before the price increase, but keep it in the box. Cartier has a return policy of 30 days if there are no signs of wear. If you’re not offered a bag you like in France, at least you still have the bracelet at home. Good luck!

I‘d go for the B/K if I were you. I’m a bit biased b/c I’m planning/hoping to get a K when I go to France in Sept. I also have a reg and a sm pave love on my wishlist but those are a bit easier to come by IMO

Seriously though, I’d go for the bracelet because it’s a 24/7 piece and really a “staple” in my mind. To me jewelry as a milestone gift is more special than a bag.

Exactly! I love my LV bags, but when I recently purchased my 3rd Cartier Love Cuff my heart was singing.

I would get the Love bracelet and save myself the $300 before the price goes up. That's just personal preference. I was never into Hermes bags. I always thought they looked like granny bags. Maybe one day when I'm older.
