I think you brought up something that I had been unable to put into words myself. I have only used a LV bag once since returning to the US (I used more low key brands before) and got a lot of mean stares from people. I assumed they thought it was fake because I'm a minority. (I was a minority in the country I used to live in too, but this stuff never happened there.) I know it's an ugly mindset to have and I shouldn't be bothered, but a lady at the grocery store was inspecting my bag up and down. And then two guys yelled at my boyfriend saying that either my shoes were fake or he paid for them? So yeah, I guess those two experiences bothered me a lot.

Anyway, I'm glad you posted this. It really made me realize that I'm putting too much weight on how others perceive me. I bought all of those things because they make me happy and I won't let people ruin it for me. I guess I'm just young and dumb sometimes haha.

P.S. I don't know if you were trying to imply that I'm classist? It had nothing to do with that and more of "should I be spending money on something that everyone assumes is fake regardless of how much I personally like it?" And I agree now that it's silly to care about what others think.
Sorry if it came across as that! I was just expressing my thoughts based on past experiences with people. If anything, it seemed like what you really needed was reassurance that it's ok for you to have your lv items.

People who tack on "class" with luxury items tend be way more vocal, which you weren't. There are plenty of users on this site who will gladly say they don't buy lv because it's too common, and there are too many fakes. They make it known that they think it's beneath them.

I inserted the classist bit because if someone will seriously look you over just to check your item is real or fake, chances are they're looking for something that will reassure them that they're "better" than you still. It's a really weird ego + power trip imo.

I would only be concerned about buying what I love and what I want to use. I can honestly say I don't care what anyone else thinks.

I've had people comment in the past about how my bags must be fake (someone even suggested that my bag might be real, but all the things inside it, i.e. my SLGs, must be fake - ?!) but I know all of my things are authentic, and that's good enough for me.

I think someone already said it -- if people assume your LV must be fake, it says more about them than it does about you.

I have read this post several times and I am totally appalled by what happened to you in a grocery store. I have never experienced anyone being that classless and rude, nor have I ever had any friend, relative or others tell me they experienced anything like this. This just shows that common courtesy, respect, being kind, showing that you “love your neighbor as yourself” is dead, dead, dead. Who raised these people to be so self absorbed and ugly? I am so sorry that this happened to you. It makes me really sad. Hugs.
