i buy ring cleaning solution that comes in a little jar w a brush. i leave my ring in the jar for awhile then take it and run the brush over the stone and then dry w a papertowel (kinda just run the towel lightly over it) but i always end up w gunky streaks. it comes out looking like garbage what am i doing wrong?

I use Dawn soap with warm water and scrub with a toothbrush...it just depends on what your ring is...some stones are very soft and you need to be careful what you do to clean them--same as type of metal just as person above noted...

I have my rings regularly cleaned in the jewellery shops, but at home I either clean them in the sonic cleaner or in the ring cleaning solution - but i always rinse them with COLD water and pat dry on a towel - they always sparkle like mad (my rings are plat/diamonds).

I just got ring cleaned again today and damn, I forgot how it looked like in the beginning. I thought it was beautiful dirty, but whoa baby does she sparkle when she's clean!! I usually just use the jewelry solution and the little brush. But when I'm done washing my hands after dishes my ring sparkles quite a bit!!

Buy a cleansing face brush (SUPER SOFT) - they are used on the face with cleanser (Sephora $5) and use this with a jewelry cleaning solution or my favorite...toothpaste! Toothpaste is really great for sparkly rings (for me at least) - if you can put it in your mouth, it's safe on diamonds...to me at least!

Some of the solutions actually leave a film. I really like Gemcare if you want something pre-made in a jar, but the best I've found is a simple hot water and dish soap soak, then scrub gently with a baby toothbrush, including the underside of the stone, etc.

I also have a jewel jet, which works great for a nice deep steam clean.

One more tip - blow dry the ring after you rinse it to combat water spots. Yes, I'm THAT neurotic about clean jewelry!

I use warm water and liquid dish soap. Use a small brush. Then I put them on a paper towel and get isoprorpyl alc in a spray bottle and spray around the prongs and under the stone like power washing. Then I put them in warm water and dry them with a paper towel.

There is a great discount on Jewel Jet from frontgate.com (trusted online seller). The list price is about $169-$199. The best discount I ever saw was $99. The cheapest you can get from eBay is $99), but you can't be sure if is is not refurbished type and you can't return it. Now., you can get this baby for $69.50 plus shipping from frontgate. Don't forget to apply coupon code EB0810F to get $10 off ($10 off $50 purchase) or XXW84376 to get free shipping. The shipping cost is about $12-$13.

I heard all kinds of great reviews about this product, and I received mine today.

The only rings I have trouble with our my two prasiolite and green quartz rings, one is David Yurman the other is Judith Ripka. For some reason the basket setting allows moisture to form under the stone and nothing I've tried seems to get the moisture out, including a hair dryer. Ripka boutique says they will remove the stone and clean but what a pain. Both are gorgeous, mint green stones when clear, but the fogginess ruins them.
