Can't afford diamond studs - for alternative, would Swarovski...

CZ would be a great alternative to traditional diamond studs. In all honesty most people won't know the difference and those who will likely won't venture close enough to ears to tell definitively. Keep them at .5 carat each for everyday wear and at 1 carat for evening wear for maximum "believability." Just make sure they're set in jewelry-style settings and not the cheap "basket prong" earrings with convex plastic backings.

If you're going to purchase Swarovski purchase something fun and flashy even if you keep them small. Try some color or a cluster of some sort. Swarovski has really beautiful, unique designs. Don't limit yourself in that store.
