There is a gorgeous yellow stone called vannite, I just purchased a beautiful cushion vannite ring with halo diamonds, after the discounts it was about $800. I've gotten tons of compliments on it. My mom liked it so much that I bought one for her also. Will post a picture as soon as I can. I wear it all the time over some of my designer pieces and it stays sparkly.

Here are my pics, I'm really happy with this ring, I wanted to big of a stone to do a diamond or sapphire.

I love yellow sapphires and also citrines (if not too big) and yellow topaz(now rare). There are lots of pretty yellow stones many of them quite inexpensive. Try multicolor.com and some of the other colored stones sites.

None of them are going to look like a canary diamond though as the brilliance and sparkle will be lacking. They will look great but not look the 'same' adn will not fool people, ifthat is your goal, rather than just pretty yellow color.

Fakes can fool people --for a while--if well set, but that gets pricey also (gold being so expensive nowadays). If you do get a fake, go small, as no one is going to believe a LARGE yellow diamond on most of us, if they know anything about the prices of these things. A lot of the fakes (look at qvc.com) are 1 or 2 carats! Especially if its really, truly yellow, similar to a fancy intense or fancy vivid, stay at .50 or .25 for believability. Keepit VERY clean (all fakes look less diamond-like once they get even a little dirty) and remember, the thing is not going to look for all that long as they get scratched and dull, no matter what the company tells you.

I love canary diamonds. But I could never afford one in the size that I want. I am so envious of all your lovely stones.
However, I did purchase a canary CZ ring from QVC and it arrived yesterday- I love it! It gives me the look I want, and it cost $60.
I wear it on my right hand. I would never try to pass it off as a diamond although I do think it looks like one. It has a lovely sparkle.

I wanted a yellow diamond as well. But unfortunately, we couldnt afford one at the time, and I wasnt all that sure I really wanted to spend that much money on a ring. After looking at them for years and trying on ring after ring, my DH proposed with this ring. Its a Yellow Sapphire.

These arnt the greatest pictures, this is all I have on my computer, the rest are on my DH's computer. Dont mind how dirty my rings are, they really needed to be cleaned when I took these pictures!
you're ring is beautiful. what a great alternative to a waaay expensive yellow diamond. they are gorgeous.. but so not worth the price of a new home.

thank you so much!!

honestly, if I had to choose between a new home or a yellow diamond, I would hands down pick a new home. If we had a home and money to afford a yellow diamond, sure why not, but for us, it wasn't a realistic option.

you can get real yellow diamonds fairly inexpensively if you go with small ones in a pave setting ~ this ring is at ross simons for $295
