I'd definitely go for Cartier or Rolex. Cartier makes amazing watches that come in leather straps I reckon. I love 18k Tank Solo or Tank Louise but I don't know how much the pre owned will cost.
I was thinking about getting a Cartier Tank Solo SS last year as an early birthday present for myself but since I have a really small wrist, it doesn't look too good on me.
