Very interesting thread! Thanks for starting op. Like others have said there are different types of minimalism but imo a minimalist when it comes to purchases is someone who has identified what’s essential and has decided to eliminate the rest. I don’t think with true minimalism it’s possible to keep buying anywhere esp when it’s luxury. I wish there was another word out there for those who don’t necessarily want to live like monks (jk)
but strive to be more selective and live the simple life.
I think simply by the fact I have been an h client a while, items I would like to add are fewer in number. Price increases have certainly lead me to be more selective but also the desire to live a clutter free life. i don’t want the person who administers my estate to have deal with so much stuff one day when I’m gone. Crime is up so where am I really going to wear/ use this stuff and some of it just so loud.
When I buy from h these days I keep in mind what would be nice to add to my collection that is missing. If I already have enough scarves in one cw then I will look at another cw unless the design is something really unique and really captures my heart. I also look over what I own and see if there’s anything I’m not using or not enough or has been overused and needs replacing before I pull the trigger on a purchase. For example after buying some Jewelry I decided to rehome other jewelry because I wasn’t really wearing it, grew out of love for it and having this item felt like clutter.
