yes it was a set given to me by my mom...she knows I love hearts..my sister is into stars and she found a star-cut diamond necklace for herOMG your rocks are so fabulous, my eyes are literally smiling in glee!!!
I just went to Union Diamond and had a look-around. I saw a 2 carat colourless diamond for 15k usd and i was excited till I saw from the stats that the heart shape was not ideal.
I hope you find your dream heart cut diamond! If you want to find a fancy color one, I see heart cut sometimes in the fancydiamonds.net website. I bought this one a couple of years ago:

It's a chameleon colored diamond and it changes colors naturally. It was amazing! But I had to return it because it was smaller than what I wanted. Sometimes I see a really nice pink diamond there...
These photos are lovely, gosh and they are after my heart too! I have always wanted a pink diamond heart ring, but pink diamonds are so pricey so I am guessing a 2 carat colourless heart diamond is all I would allow my SO to buy for me.
For your table and depth ideals, are they for just the heart shape or are they ideals across the board for all diamond shapes?
As for my setting, I would just want a simple platinum band to hold the diamond.

This is a ring that my DF gave me when we were dating. It's a 1.06 carat G color. I love it but I don't wear it as much now that I have my e-ring. 
I agree that a heart shaped diamond is either something you like or you don't. It may not suit everyone's taste. I personally think it's so romantic.

That's a very sweet and sentimental gift! The star cut diamond sounds gorgeous too! I honestly don't think I've ever seen a star cut diamond, but I have seen some star cut cz stones.

I love the idea of heart diamonds, but they aren't for me. I have a very 'cutesy' look about me due to my stature, and I think a heart diamond would accentuate that in a non-cute way!
