You can buy 2 types of Cadillac leather conditioner, the regular in the green bottle, and the select, which is a bit more expensive. Both are very good, but I prefer the select a bit more.....it makes bags look amazing. It takes a while to use a bottle, so I consider it a great value. You can buy both on Amazon. I will note, I prefer the regular Cadillac on Louis Vuitton vachetta....just seems to absorb better. Hope that helps! Here’s a pic of the Cadillac Select:

Does the select remove any color?

I use it on my Chanel pink WOC that is lambskin, my caviar Chanel Classic Jumbo in Black, my black Chanel Urban Spirit backpack, and my red Gucci Marmont backpack and it works great on all of them. The Cadillac lotion was what was recommended to me by Chanel SA. Could you have used a cloth that could transfer color perhaps?

So you used the green and not the select?

Apparently there are fake Cadillac lotions out there and i think i got one of them locally in Singapore.

Can anyone recommend a reputable seller who will ship to Singapore?

I think Cadillac Select is a miracle product, but I also think it’s smart to do a small test in an less conspicuous area of your bag before conditioning the whole thing, just to be safe. While the product is incredible, my experience shows that it is possible, on seemingly very rare occasions, to lift some color.

BEST EXPERIENCE: i used it on a gray preloved Chanel Anniversary Edition 2.55 Reissue that had a couple mystery spots on it, including one where it appeared someone had tried, unsuccessfully, to clean it (leaving a light halo around the spot that had presumably been left by some sort of cleaning solution and what looked like scratches around the spot as well....I assumed it was a lost cause). After a few gentle circular rubs with this product, I was blown away by the results. The bag literally looked brand new. Spots gone. Halo gone. No visible scratches anywhere. Total magic.

I have successfully used the product to condition many other bags of different leathers and colors (nothing as bad as the reissue mentioned above) and I haven’t had any issues with any of them. The product really does work miracles.

But as I stated, I did have an experience where the color lifted a bit, but that appears to be the exception rather than the rule - here are the details of that one:

COLOR RUB/TRANSFER EXPERIENCE: I used it on a few deep white mystery stains on an LV taiga leather desk blotter in Acajou (reddish brown). Taiga is textured so the stains had sunk deep into the leather and were much more stubborn. I admit I got quite aggressive with the pressure (I would like to think I would have had more patience and been more gentle if I were working on a more precious bag but this desk blotter takes a lot of abuse so I wasn’t particularly worried about treating it with more force...think scrubbing a pan instead of offering a gentle massage...yikes!...but that’s what I did). In the end every single spot came out completely and the blotter looked absolutely flawless. That being said, I did notice a very faint reddish brown color on the white cloth I had used so obviously my aggressive approach removed some of the leather dye. Fortunately the color transfer was totally and completely undetectable on the desk blotter (I would have never known if I hadn’t examined the cloth) but it was a good lesson that it is possible to remove some color. So I just keep that in mind now when treating my items: Less is more, be gentle and test patch first.

Overall I give Cadillac Select a grade of A+.

It lifted colour on every single thing I used it on. Where did you purchase yours?

Wow, that‘s terrible. I’m so so sorry that happened to you. I bought mine through Amazon - it was shipped by Amazon but the seller was TGW Company. They have a 95% positive rating on Amazon, but it looks like the 1 star reviews (the recent ones, anyway) were all related to shipping issues, for which Amazon took responsibility.

I think I remember reading somewhere on this forum a while back that some people were concerned about the authenticity of this product in some cases, as multiple people reported receiving bottles that weren’t filled all the way to the top. That was not the case with me and I’ve had great luck with it, but who knows - it seems like a lot of work to dupe a $15 item, but it’s been known to happen. Ughhh. Again, I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s so heartbreaking.

i bought mine for SGD30!! here

Just a word of warning:

I used the cadillac select on my Vintage Dark beige lambskin 2.55 and RUINED it. It left Stains and darkened the Leather pores and even after waiting for 4 days it did not get any better. I tried cleaning it again to get rid of the lotion wich helped a little bit.

I feel like all of these lotions are ONLY safe for black chanel bags...with lighter coloured ones, I dont know. I only know it defo did not work on mine...
so sorry to hear what would you recommend for dark beige then?

i recently purchased a preloved caviar skin maxi and the leather looks a little dull and hard to the touch, perhaps even dry. anybody has experience on using on caviar leather to improve the texture? thanks

I’ve had great luck using this on caviar - i actually feel more comfortable using Cadillac on caviar than any other leather since it is so hearty. I have used it on black as well as red and light beige caviar and in every case the leather looked cleaner and more hydrated. I can’t say it improved the texture, per se, but it definitely improved the appearance of the caviar. I would give it a try. Just don’t go overboard - most of these conditioners are water based (and in general water and leather don’t mix) so it is best to use too little than too much.

What year is your bag? Caviar changes from year to year - perhaps your bag is from a year when the leather was stiffer? if it is just the nature of the leather from that year, although it may not feel as nice, the upside is it will likely retain its structure better, so that’s a silver lining at least.

hi, Hillsidegirl, thank you for your reply. i will definitely try Cadillac lotion. thank you again for your input.
i have been reading about the difference of caviar skin production year, and this particular bag was produced as series 18. i also have 2 other caviar skin bags and their production series are 13 and 19. my series 19 which is a WOC and it does feel very soft, has deep black color, and very shimmery; it fits what i read - that 19 was particularly and exceptional production year for caviar. i feel 13 is so-so; it has been worn a lot and leather has gone nice and soft already.
do you know anything about series 18? i wonder if lotion will help? your opinion is appreciated.
thanks!

I don’t own any caviar from that series (I don’t think anyway, but you have inspired me to check now ) but it looks like people approve of that series. There is a tiny thread specifically devoted to the caviar from that series - everyone who posted seemed complimentary…

18 series was considered a safe year for caviar. Grains are average size

So hopefully your issues are not inherent to the leather and you can resurrect it a bit with a little love.

I use cadillac lotion (green bottle) on my chanel when it gets a dirty spot or to hydrate. I've never used it on my entire bag though. I put a small amount on a very very soft cloth and rub it in. Try it on a small spot first just in case because some people have noticed that it lifted the color. I haven't experienced that.

I have a jumbo black caviar that is 18 series that I purchased from the boutique. It's very dry and stiff. It almost looks like the dark grey bags that came out for 21K. 18 series(2013) had stiff/dry leather on some bags. However, I have a gst in black caviar from 18 series too that i purchased from the same boutique and its shimmery and soft . So it just varied. I haven't applied the cadillac lotion on my jumbo. I don't mind that it's stiff or kinda dark grey looking. It's still in perfect shape and form so maybe it helped to maintain that look haha.

The 19 series had some caviar back then that was "iridescent matte caviar" that wore like suede and color transferred for even the black. It was really bad. So it sounds like you got a good one for the black woc! :) you might have gotten the classic so the tag probably said 00V vs the iridescent matte caviar that they sold in 2014-2016.

Hi everyone, I pulled my caviar wallet out of storage as I haven’t worn it for the two last year due to the pandemic and noticed these white stains which I believe is from the leather being dehydrated. Would you say the the Cadillac premium lotion would work to have this removed? Picture attached. :)

appreciate all help xx

hi there! To be very honest with you leather doesn’t just dehydrated because you don’t use it for a year. Unless you’re literally living in the desert with extreme high heat and dry air this doesn’t happen.
Most of the time white residue like this is actually built up lotions and treatments so if I were you I would just try polishing it with a soft cotton T-shirt blowing on it from time to time, if u know what I mean ^^

if this doesn’t work I woukd try cleaning it first which means either a cleaner like a foam or soft hand soap and a cloth I cannot imagine that this doesn’t come off...

Thank you so much for this. I did attempt to get it off with water earlier this week without success however I did go for a microfibre cloth with soap and everything went away. So happy!!!!

Very very grateful for you and this forum overall
