Another problem involving USPS to Australia--at the time of this post, USPS limits insurance on parcels to Australia. I believe the current limit is around $3,500 give or take a little. If you are buying something more valuable, it would only be partially insured. I agree completely with MrsS--there are better methods than USPS.

Does it really limit up to $3500?? I didn't know that. But the last time I had Fedex deliver a Birkin to me was a complete nightmare, and not just the customs charges. A couple of my friends here as well had the same problem. But other times were ok. USPS has so far worked for me in Australia personally and the tracking consistent. I don't know about Singapore. What are the better methods you would recommend?

Suzie, the Fedex charges are about right though. I was quoted US$200+ from the US without insurance and double with. A reseller told me that Fedex fuel surcharge has increased by 34%.

The postal regulations for various countries can change overnight. You can research the cost and the insurance limitations just by going to www.usps.com and following the links for calculating postage. Make an educated guess about the weight of the package, click on the correct country, and you will see all the options. If you follow the link to "add services" and click on "insurance" there will be a message showing dollar limits on insurance. This varies widely country by country.

If the insurance limit is indeed $3500, and I have paid another reseller I worked with for the full amount of the item which was over $10k, I assume she is taking responsibility if the item gets lost. It might not be insurance from the postal company as I assumed but her own company insurance? Anyway, it could be the luck of the draw as well when it comes to any postal services.

A few more words about insurance! First, as a seller I only ship items via a method where I can add full insurance. This has flaws, sadly for the buyer. First, you cannot insure an item for more than the declared value. If an international buyer wants to ask me to declare a lower value than the amount paid, I could only ship the item with insurance for the lesser amount. If the item were lost or damaged, I would be responsible for repaying the buyer--but I could only collect the smaler amount of the insured value, so the risk would be mine. Too great a risk!

When using Paypal, Paypal policies require that the seller be able to prove that the item was delivered. If the item failed to arrive, Paypal would require the seller to repay the buyer--even if in the ad the seller said they would not be responsible if the buyer declined insurance.

With other payment methods (like wire transfers) I am less certain about where the responsiblity lies...

I have no idea what your seller's insurance is, but I would always discuss insurance prior to finalizing everything. It is a good idea to know just what the coverage is (or isn't!).

Thanks for adding on. I wouldn't purchase without the full value of insurance, it's too risky if the item was to disappear. I can only assume that when I pay for insurance for the full value, the seller would be responsible for reimbursement.

anyway. To answer suzie... its stores.ebay.com/eboutique I think ?????
I have the email address of [email protected]
In my address book It says: Donna - Sales Director and then I have Eric - Customer Relations Manager.
Both of them were really pleasing ... I dont even think I was charged for shipping but I don't remember. $400 is a lot for shipping forsure.

MRS.S: Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion. We all appreciate that you like nyfashionexpert. All I can say, is that she had an attitude with me, and was not easy to work with. I hope you had a different experience. I personally found eBoutique to be of better value to me because the prices were much lower from the get go.

Also in terms of eBay I noticed NYFASHIONEXPERT had the lowest feedback. eBoutique and MK had the most feedback ... and I feel more comfortable shopping with them.

XOXOXOXOXO

You are most certainly entitled to your own opinion about any reseller you want. I hope your comments about nyfashionexpert is fair because she does NOT remember who you are, and she keeps a record of every client she deals with, many whom are repeat customers. You are most free to take this offline and into PM.

Are you nyfashionexpert? Because, I know that resellers would not discuss other clients???? So-- Now you have me thinking that you are her.

I wish I were her, and then I won't have problems getting all the droolworthy exotics that I can't get my hands on most of the time.

Now you have me thinking your story was not real because she does not remember you.

Hi JennabSchwartz,

I don't really have info. about those resellers this thread is about. But what I can tell you is our dear mrssparkle is NOT a reseller. And she has been a very trusted and respected member here on the board.

Some countries are just extremely expensive to ship to with FedEx, for whatever reason. It's not necessarily the seller's 'fault', but rather FedEx's crazy pricing system.

AMEN!!! I use FedEX, normally ground or express saver. When I sold my blue kelly, from NC to CA it would have been around $300 for second day or overnight with insurance !!! Uh, can you say "NO WAY?" As it was, it cost me over $100 to Express Saver ship and this was no where near what it would cost to insure a Birkin.

^^ USPS is not recommended for Singapore, in case anyone's wondering. DHL and Fedex are both OK. The reason why USPS is not recommended for expensive items because there is NO USPS ground staff, and the items are offloaded to the local postal service and there is NO tracking the moment the item lands on our shores.

Yes, I ran into that not long ago. I had to use FedEX to ship a pair of shoes in their box. I spent more to ship that than I spent to ship the Kelly I mentioned above, and the Kelly was in a BIG box. :wtf:

First of all - My story is true, and how dare you tell me who I have contacted and who I have purchased from. This is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. GET A LIFE! REALLY. If you have nothing to do but ask resellers about their encounters with clients --- that is sad.

On another note. ALL BUYERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE LACK OF PRIVACY AND THE TRUE UNPROFESSIONALISM OF NYFASHIONEXPERT WHO ACCORDING TO MRS.SPARKLES IS WILLING TO DISCUSS CLIENTS WITH HER. SHE ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE TOLD LIES AND INACCURATE STORIES.

I HOPE YOU WILL NOW THINK TWICE BEFORE SHOPPING WITH NYFASHIONEXPERT AS ALL YOUR BUSINESS WILL APPARENTLY BECOME KNOWN MRS.S.
