Have any of your purchased from eboutique? I am in the U.S. and they are in Australia. How about shipping and customs? If any of you have gone through this, please help!!!!!!!! I know they are on the list of good ebay sellers but I need reassurance for my first purchase!:shrugs:

Hi jujudoll. eBoutique is actually in the USA. I am not sure why you say Australlia. I have bought many many times from them. I was sent by another tPF member, ReneH.
I dealt directly with their Sales Director or Customer Relations Manager... I think his name was Eric. I had a great experience with them on a croc bag and leathers. I also bought from Nyfashionexpert and I was not impressed to say the least.
I hope this helps. I know other members have purchased from eBoutique too.

The folks from eBoutique visit tPF. They are in the US. And if you have any questions pertaining to shipping, it's best to check with them because you will need specific information, like customs, taxes, charges, depending on where you are. And they are in the recommended list.

As for nyfashionexpert, I am dealing with the reseller. Although I have not received my bags yet, I can vouch that she has been on top of her game from day one. She replies me very promptly all the time. Business like. No nonsense.

What is the link to that site? Can you purchase there from Australia?

Funny, you mentioned Nyfashionexpert, I emailed to enquire about the cost of shipping for a bag..the reply US$400!!!!!

^suzie, i think they mean eboutique on ebay. She also has a sister store called designerbrat. I think maybe rockerchic has some experience with her....not sure, so don't quote me!

???? The shipping cost is a function of the value of the bag + insurance. Was it an exotic? And had you asked for insurance?

When I sent a friend one of my bags to the US via Fedex, it was USD200 inclusive of insurance. And the value of my bag was under USD10,000.

It was a 30 Birkin, non exotic under US10K and I didn't mention insurance but $400 that is double what it cost you. I can understand $200 or even $250 but $400!!

Suzie, I was very curious and went to ask her if she did remember quoting anyone from Australia asking about one of her bags, and she said she did indeed gave someone a price of $400. That was apparently what Fedex (Fedex International Priority with tracking) quoted her, and it was quoted with the cost of insurance.

She gave me 3 of her recent transactions - A Birkin to Dubai and the cost was $650 (she only charged the client $600 - underquoted). And 2 more birkins to Saudi Arabia and those were $500 each.

Some countries are just extremely expensive to ship to with FedEx, for whatever reason. It's not necessarily the seller's 'fault', but rather FedEx's crazy pricing system.

May I jump in?!! I have shipped to Australia from the US and know it is (sadly for you) one of the more expensive shipping routes. Japan and much of Asia are cheaper. I am always surprised at the quotes I get from shippers to send things to Australia. I think the price you received is very much in line, especially if the package will be insured.

I recently had to get quotes to send an Hermes item to Europe--the box would have been just a little larger but the value lower. The least expensive options I recieved from shippers such as FedEx and UPS were in the upper $300 range. Shipping costs have gone up.

If you are calculating the costs, please know that any shipping quotes you receive will not reflect broker fees that can be added on your end, nor will they reflect duties you could incur.

Good luck! Just wanted you to know that at least one member does not find the price a surprise at all, even for an average non-express method!

The best way I find and cheapest for items to come to Australia from the US is via USPS EMS with insurance of course. The tracking is reliable and also clearing customs is much faster than Fedex.

^^ USPS is not recommended for Singapore, in case anyone's wondering. DHL and Fedex are both OK. The reason why USPS is not recommended for expensive items because there is NO USPS ground staff, and the items are offloaded to the local postal service and there is NO tracking the moment the item lands on our shores.

Another problem involving USPS to Australia--at the time of this post, USPS limits insurance on parcels to Australia. I believe the current limit is around $3,500 give or take a little. If you are buying something more valuable, it would only be partially insured. I agree completely with MrsS--there are better methods than USPS.

Thanks for all of your replies ladies. I have had larger parcels send from the US and it cost nowhere near those prices but they must have come with the US postal service. I have had no problem with parcels arriving that way and just sign for them at my Post Office. I guess it just puts you off buying something if you know that the postage is going to be so expensive but at least I realise now that it was not the seller making a profit..
