I currently work & live in China, and my most-used bags are my two Longchamps Le Pliages that I switch on and off for work. I got the Chinese-made one first, and the French-made afterwards. They both wear well and I've had no major issues - if anything, I've had zip issues with the French-made one.

Also - there are a number of nice items sold here in China. I've seen garments and bags of stunning quality that are made and sold domestically - it just depends on how much you want to pay. So many people come to China for 'cheap' shopping and whine when they go home and things fall apart - if there's bad quality shiz sold here, it's partly because there's a definite market for it.

Burberry accesories and handbags are made in Italy. Some of the handbags are made in china. I went to the Burberry store at the Mall of America, and the bags were all made in Italy.

I have Burberry - headband China, scarf Italy, scarf Scotland, coat China, another coat Thailand, shoes Italy. My bf 3 coats and 1 pair of shoes were made in China or Thailand.

I have owned a Burberry, Coach and Prada bag for 2-3 years. All Chinese made and have had no problems with them thus far. In particular, I am very pleased with how my Coach has held up under heavy use seeing as it wasn't an expensive bag by any means.
Most of my clothes are also Chinese made - Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Herve Leger, Ralph Lauren, See by Chloe etc and I have had no problems with those either. So whenever I hear people whingeing about crappy Chinese goods, I am rather confused. Maybe it's just trade protectionism?

I just purchased my first Burberry, a Calfskin pebbled Chocolate brown satchel called the Heathcliffe, that I accidently stumbled across at Nordstroms. While at Nordstroms the SA showed me some of the other Burberry bags that were manufactured in China and you know what - THEY LOOKED CHEAP. He also told me that Burberry has discontinued manufacture in China and that there were only a select few styles from that plant. Now, where that may not be the case for all designer bags made in China, in my opinion more often than not the quality is not there. I love Tory Burch bags, but in my search have found that if it is not the leather that looks a bit odd, it is the stitching. I was loving the Tory Burch Ally Satchel until I saw that the extra cross-body strap was not one piece, but appeared to be 3 pieces sewn together, which eventually could break if enough stress was put upon it. None of the straps on my LV's and my beautiful 18-year old Chocolate brown Coach drawstring bag are made that way. At the end of the day regardless of what designer you patronize, its your money and you deserve nothing less than the best quality a designer has to offer. If I have to pay more to feel comfortable a bag will withstand the test of time, then so be it.

Yes, totally agree with u :)

Totally!!!!! Agree!!!!! I can relate to this topic.. I have Burberry collection and two items I have are made in China (wallet and a small purse). The corner and edges of the wallet is already showing some wear out (I can take pictures of it later). It is only a year old! The purse is still fine and I'm hoping it will last. My husband bought the purse for me for Christmas 2010.

Side note: the wallet is from Burberry Outlet store
The purse is from Neiman Marcus.

I HAVE THE ANSWER! Ok, so I am a SA for Burberry, and yes some items you see are stamped or tagged "made in China" but what you all should know, is the materials are actually imported to China from Italy, Scotland, England, various parts of Europe, and the assembly of the product is finished in China. So all materials are European, but they are just put together by the Chinese. The Nova Check pattern has reigned the most popular print for many years at Burberry, and this is their PVC (coated canvas like LV bags) line, and because it is most popular, it is most replicated and in highest demand. Because of its popularity, mass production of this line must be accessible to the masses, and Chinese people have successfully pumped out these bags for years because this pattern is SO eye catching! Full leather bags, or even most "House Check" and "Haymarket" bags will be made in Italy, but now these are the lines that will be at a higher price point. I personally don't feel so bad about this because if materials are coming from Europe, and someone is just putting it together in China, as long as the stitching is good, I won't complain, but believe me, I too would of course love to see an item stamped "made in Italy" or "made in England"...I will say that all of Burberry's straight 100% Cashmere scarfs will be made in Scotland, and if it is any sort of blend, the cashmere will be imported from Scotland.

BTW, Burberry is discontinuing the Nova Check line! Nova in Latin means "new" and it's not really new anymore...also, the PVC coated canvas is really bad for the environment, and Burberry wants to step away from that, but Louis Vuitton never will, because their classic monogram items are waaaaaaaaaaay too popular.

You must be very careful in buying a clothing in China, you may need proper research who are the seller of genuine branded clothing. But in terms of quality if it is original, not so bad. The garment is almost similar with branded bought inside the expensive shopping malls.
