I have a clemence Evelyne for about 7 months now. I used it yesterday and left something in the pocket compartment. I left it in there since yesterday and just went to look at the bag, took out the item, and saw it left a bubble in the leather. I put the bag empty laying flat, but is this normal? Should it flatten out? :confused1:

How big was the 'something in the pocket'? Do give us a photo.
Unfortunately you have to be careful with these narrow pockets.

Leather is a natural material and what got stretched yesterday might naturally contract.
Perhaps DocRide could give you some advice on how to help it.

I was with my kids and it was a mostly empty pack of wipes. It was completely closed and dry, so there was nothing wet against the leather. Here’s a pic

Obviously I messed up here and I feel like the only person to be this dumb because no matter how much I search, I can’t see a question like this being asked before- just comments about how durable the Evelyne is and what a great mom bag it is. Clearly this is just a me problem. I can’t believe it left an impression in the leather after one day.

it will go away. I had this issue with an Evie that got wet - that can stretch the pocket permanently.
That pocket's pretty flat - mine gets indentations even from a tiny notepad.

Never overpack a bag. It will stretch and permanently distort the leather. Anything too big can leave a press mark, especially in a soft leather. This is what you're seeing here.

I think I misinterpreted the meaning of “workhorse”. This was a almost empty pack of wipes, not like I packed a textbook in there ya know?

Wow, you wouldn’t think an empty pack of wipes would do that! I guess this is what they mean when they say that Clemence leather can bubble. But I’m sure the other posters are correct that it will probably return to its normal shape. Please let us know.

The outer pocket of the Evelyn is flat and there's no gusset, therefore anything of any depth can stretch it out, regardless of the type of leather. If I use the outer pocket on my Evelyn (and I usually don't), it's only for papers such as a receipt or parking tag.

I’m hopefully getting an Evelyne this week...thanks for the head’s up. I guess one can’t put too much in the narrow pocket? Any other storage/usage tips?
I use the outside pocket for things like small packs of tissues, phone, tickets and so on. I don’t empty my bag out at the end of the day, lie it flat, or do anything special to take care of it. I just don’t give a lot of thought to it, and it’s been out in the rain too. It’s absolutely fine, I’m a bit puzzled that a pack of wipes would do this tbh.
