BRUNELLO CUCINELLI. Worth it?

I have a lot of BC, especially after Chanel RTW prices have gone through the roof and are IMHO gaudy, not as well crafted and not especially wearable for my lifestyle. I have shoes and RTW. Prices are crazy, I agree. I think if you have an SA who you are loyal to, he or she will keep an eye out for sales on items that would be flattering to you. I do look for sales but have purchased at full retail often as well. Like others have said, his employment and social practices are a factor in pricing for sure. And in my willingness to accept the pricing. Unlike Chanel. It is unfortunate that when your SA leaves (has happened to me at H and Saks/Chanel), you are kind of lost service-wise.

I feel like I could have written this post! :) My thoughts exactly!

"Worth it" is so subjective based on one's values and disposable income. I could never buy BC at retail or even half-price, but like @lenarmc I was lucky enough to find a pair of jeans in my size at a thrift store. The quality and style is clearly far superior to anything else I've ever worn, including raw Japanese denim valued by "jean purists". If I had the means, I would definitely try more pieces and will be stalking the brand on preloved sites.

yes, Yes, YES! BC is very much "worth it." Something about his clothing brings pure joy to this wearer. I love wearing those subtly sparkling cashmere sweaters in the daytime. It's as though they're sprinkled with fairy dust. Everything is also very comfortable to wear. Interestingly, his clothes don't tend to photograph that well. You have to see them in person, touch them, turn them inside out to look at the hand stiching. I don't love everything he does- those boxy, cap sleeved tops, harem pants, and cro-magnon teddy coats on steroids don't resonate with me. But what I love, I LOVE.

It is totally worth it. My style is a bit more colorful so I don’t shop there much for myself, but I’m so obsessed with the way their mens clothes looks on my spouse (who is actually very simple and hates designer for himself - but even he loooves his BC)!

Agree with you . And if BC was American, he probably would help. He has revitalized a lot of dying towns in Tuscany and Umbria simply bc they write him and ask for specific help (like with their church, town square etc). If an American Mill Town wrote him, who knows

I did think it was nice to find out by happenstance that his philanthropy is not limited to Solomeo. (We were in Norcia, and saw a church and town square renovation he was responsible for) post earthquake.

DH has still switched over to Loro Piana; BC’s philanthropic leanings notwithstanding
Haven’t been here in awhile. Just catching up. I do admire Cucinelli’s support for his country and his workers. I also love and wear LP. To me, LP has a more feminine fit. I quickly learned to purchase BC blazers one size smaller, lest I drown in them. BC is hushed. LP is dead silent. As I mentioned previously, I LOVE those BC subtly sparkling sweaters for daytime, though. I am not a daytime sequin type, but worn without jewelry or other adornment, they just work.

I do wish that Cucinelli would speak more about his women’s line. He’s given a number of excellent interviews that focus almost exclusively on his menswear.

His daughter is in charge so he’s probably trying to let her have the limelight of that division.

New to the brand and loving a lot of pieces but not sure if price is justified? How easy are these pieces to care for? Can they be dry cleaned? The few pieces I have all say hand wash only which honestly just would not work for my lifestyle...
A surprising number of BC ( and LP) pieces are hand washable. Many washable pieces call for line drying. I have a wooden rack reserved for this purpose. Get yourself The Laundress Delicate Wash and The Laundress Cashmere and Wool Wash, a sweater drying rack, and a big plastic tub and give it a go. TL website has great advice on washing luxury pieces. If you don’t have the time, most BC washable pieces can also be dry cleaned. I’d never wash “Opera” sweaters. Those must exclusively be dry cleaned.

I don’t wear most pieces enough to have to wash them with every, single wearing, so YMMV.

I find BC pieces quite durable. Unlike Armani, BC and LP fabrics aren’t temperamental and don’t degrade over time before your eyes. BC cashmere pills mire than LP. When it comes to pilling, Scottish cashmere is superior to Italian, IMO. One caveat, try before you buy. I’d never buy BC online sight unseen. Normally for the best fit I have to size down one size-except when I don’t!
