Bridal jewelry - pearls, diamonds, or VCA??

I wish I purchased a 10-motif WG MOP vintage Alhambra, matching bracelet and earrings. You could wear the 10-motif alone, with the bracelet for a longer look. I'm not sure I could have afford all three back then, but with 20/20 hindsight, that would have been a far better purchase.

With VCA, and in particular the Vintage line, you can mix and match. And you build a wardrobe of jewelry that's classic, easy to wear that can take you from tee shirts to black tie.

While weddings are great, they are just one day in your life. The most important thing is your relationship after the wedding. (I've been married for 27 years.)

I wish my wedding jewelry was more versatile. But I did not know much about jewelry back then.

Slightly off-topic, but I just wanted to congratulate you on 27 years of marriage! That's no small feat. I was married the first time for 17 years and was pretty lost when that marriage failed. I've been married almost three years now to my current husband. Marriage is work...but the best kind of work. :-)

Wedding jewellery, swoon!! What a delicious topic  :graucho:

I'm wearing emerald and diamond drop earrings for my wedding, plus a delicate diamond bracelet

This is so true - never settle where jewellery is concerned - the heart wants what it wants :D

And most of all, congratulations! 27 years - salute! :worthy: :D :p

OP I think you should get whatever speaks to your heart the most. If the VCA is calling your name, then a pearl set won't do. VCA like most brands puts prices up with heartbreaking regularity, so I'm a bit in favour of buying sooner rather than later for pieces like this. Pearls you can get down the track IMO

Perfect advice!!

I wore mikimotos when i got married. My parents gave me a wide range of options including vca and pearls and am glad I chose pearls. i find my wedding jewelry to be very versatile and not at all stodgy. I wear it all the time, for both casual and dressy occasions. with mikimoto, depending on the quality and size of your pearls, a simple akoya strand can run more than a vca 20 motif and increase just as dramatically in price. Also, I would not get Tiffany akoyas but that is my humble opinion.

VCA...but I don't really wear pearls so that's an easy choice for me. I love either the vintage Alhambra YG MOP or YG pave (10 and 5 motif or any combo). Would rather have that as a wedding gift and get something costume for the big day (LOL, I know most here prob wouldn't do that), but the pearls I wore on my wedding day haven't seen the light of day since.

Good luck!

Thanks phillj! I'm leaning towards VCA at the moment too, especially since I've realised that pearls come in such a huge range and I could just get an inexpensive set to wear on the actual wedding day. Although I think I would be as likely to wear pearls after the wedding as I would a VCA set, and nothing beats a classic mikimoto set!

I'm so happy you're leaning towards VCA- its one of my favorite design houses! It's also addictive so beware hehe

Another vote for VCA. I wore Mikimoto pearls for my wedding (handed down from my mother) but if I could have afforded or if she offered the VCA I would have definitely opted for that!

Although I personally prefer traditional diamonds/pearls for a wedding you have to appreciate the symbolism behind the quadrafoil....luck, health, fortune and love.....
Makes it extra special if you select a piece from the Vintage Alhambra collection.
