Hi ladies, I'm very fortunate that my mom has offered to contribute some part for me to purchase a bridal jewelry suite. I would like to get something versatile that I can wear regularly after the wedding. My shortlist now is:

1. Pearl necklace and earrings set. Either Tiffany akoya or mikimoto.
2. Fabulous diamond stud or drop earrings.
3. VCA frivole earrings and necklace set. This would be by far the most expensive, and I would have to top up significantly for it.

I love all three options, and I think sometime down the line I would probably obtain all to complete my jewelry collection. I can't decide which to get first and would really love some opinions! :flowers:

Congratulations!

I would go for the VCA too. I would also consider the WG/MOP Vintage Alhambra. A 10-motif, 5 motif and earrings would be gorgeous, wedding appropriate and wearable after the wedding. Vintage Alhambra is very versatile.

VCA holds its value much more than either of the other options, too.

I was going through one of the VCA threads and thinking to myself--how I wished I got VCA instead of the pearls I received for my wedding.

Good luck with your decision!

I have the frivole earrings and the necklace set and I am not sure that I would agree with wearing them as bridal jewelry (as much as I love them). I am assuming you are referring to the gold?
I also have the diamond pave frivole earrings. What if you forget the necklace (depending on your dress, of course) and get the diamond pave frivole earrings? These are incredibly special and IMO would be perfect. You can also wear then long after the wedding.....I wear mine for both dressy and casual occasions. They are highly versatile.

Thanks TGG for your thoughts! I'm Asian and it's actually traditional to receive gold jewelry as a wedding gift, and there has been a resurgence of late of brides going back to wearing gold jewelry. Yellow gold tends to look better on my skin as well than white gold/plat.

I looked at the diamond pave earrings before too.. But wow I think those are way out of my budget for now

Personally I would go with mikimoto pearls. Simple, classic, elegant.

I know this opinion will not be popular, but VCA looks like children's jewelry to me. It's a little too girlish for my taste.

I understand completely. Ever since I started collecting VCA I've switched to yg. My diamond jewelry is set in platinum but except for the pave, it's all yg for me now :)

Mikimoto pearls are the ultimate classic.
While I am a loyal collector of VCA, I tend to agree that some of it can look like children's jewelry. The sweets, for example.

Congratulations!

I agree with etoupe. VCA is forever and holds its value (actually, over time the value increases). Only the sweets look like children's jewelry - most of the rest is just classic and feminine.

I love VCA, but I agree that the pearls are classic and more traditional for brides. Mikimoto has some pieces that have both diamonds and pearls and they are exquisite! I have Mikimoto diamond and pearl drop earrings and a matching pendant that I wore for my wedding a few years back. They are set in yellow gold, as that is my favorite too. Just my humble opinion. I'm sure you will look amazing no matter what jewelry you pick! :-)

etoupebirkin, out of curiosity which VCA piece(s) would you have rushed to have received instead of pearls?

I wish I purchased a 10-motif WG MOP vintage Alhambra, matching bracelet and earrings. You could wear the 10-motif alone, with the bracelet for a longer look. I'm not sure I could have afford all three back then, but with 20/20 hindsight, that would have been a far better purchase.

With VCA, and in particular the Vintage line, you can mix and match. And you build a wardrobe of jewelry that's classic, easy to wear that can take you from tee shirts to black tie.

While weddings are great, they are just one day in your life. The most important thing is your relationship after the wedding. (I've been married for 27 years.)

I wish my wedding jewelry was more versatile. But I did not know much about jewelry back then.
