Bought new small classic flap but didn’t come with tags

Hi everyone!

I received my package today in the mail and was so excited to open it and realized later that my purse came without any sort of tags attached. I purchased a 20b small classic flap through neiman marcus and it came in perfect condition but it wasn’t wrapped with any ribbons and without any sight of the tags. Is this normal?
I purchased new prior and they all came with tags attached so I’m a little confused

I just recently bought a small Gabrielle and as per the manager they are starting to remove the extra packaging feature due to Chanel supporting sustainability. However, the manager gladly and nicely offered me to include all packaging minus the tag since we don't get these in Canada. Hope this helps?

I’m glad you were able to talk to your SA! As long as the bag is in great condition and the authenticity card is there, it would not bother me. My NM SA always wraps my purses neatly. It was probably someone else doing it. Enjoy your bag!

Can you explain why chanel at nm wouldn't have tags?

Thanks Tracy. I think what kinda bothers me too is how it was sent to me. It almost feels like who packaged it didn’t take the time to nicely package it for me. The bag was even placed face down. Thanks for your message though and that makes me feel a lot better as it sounds like it is common for some bags to come without tags.

Is that the only place you can find the bag? I've returned bags that were sent to me like that on sheer principle.

Yeah I asked customer service and this bag is only with department stores and neimans happen to have one left available
I also inquired with many SAs in different department stores and they were sold out.

The first chanel bag I got from NM a couple years ago didn’t look like that either. I still kept it bc I really wanted the bag :/ It’s just luck.

Hi! I'm new here so I apologize if I'm doing anything wrong but I have to ask..
Did you end up keeping the bag or did you return it?
I just received my Chanel mini flap bag from a Neiman Marcus and the box it came in was unlabeled and not sturdy with a note saying "at the present time our gift packaging is not available. Please reach out to your fashion advisor if you would like to request the packaging be sent to you once it arrives."
So is that really weird or am I just a nervous newbie? I mean, how did it get to the store? My thought is if I am to spend $4000 on a luxury handbag shouldn't it come in the fancy box like everything else I've ever bought from Chanel?(like perfume and makeup)
Now I know that lambskin is delicate and I probably wouldn't have even noticed these details but once I started feeling weird about the packaging I examined every inch and found several scuffs, 1 small scratch near the back pocket, and it looks like it has been warn where it opens at the top. Back pocket is loose and there is clear scuff marks as if someone has been putting things in it. The inside looks perfect. It has all the price tags, receipts, ribbons, authentication card etc.
So, did I buy a used handbag from Neiman Marcus??!?!?!? Please help!
What should I do? What would you all do?

No need to worry.
I believe alot of us have noticed that Chanel’s quality had been declining lately and same as their services.
For some reason they ran out of boxes and are using some random cardboard black boxes and who knows what else.
As for the quality of the bag you bought, yes, they do tend to sell returned bags without saying it’s been returned and or some of the bags they have brand new may have a few errors on it.
Personally, if i were you, i would return the bag or exchange it for another one they have, if they dont have another to exchange then ask them if you can be on a waitlist for another shipment, if they have another one to exchange for then make sure you check the bag completely for any flaws and ask if its ever been returned.

P.S. I prefer Calfskin and Caviar leather over Lambskin. Calfskin and Caviar is alot more durable.

Hi there! I ended up keeping my bag as there were no flaws to the purse. My SA apologized for it being shipped without it not being wrapped nicely (it was sent out from another store) and went ahead and mailed me ribbons and camellia flower. In your case, it seems like there are a few flaws and that wouldn’t sit well with me. Granted that Lamskin is delicate and may show a few scratches ( can be buffed out). Since it’s your first, definitely want to feel good about your purchase and that the bag is perfect. I’d reach out to your SA to see about exchanging and requesting them inspect it before mailing it out. As for the nice boxes, there is a shortage but I hear that you can request to get it once they’re back in stock. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I just purchased a small classic flap (black, GHW, caviar) from Neiman Marcus and I also received the bag in a crappy unmarked black box that was the size of a shoe box - and honestly looked like a shoe box. It was wrapped with the bow + flower but I like to store my bags in the boxes so I texted the SA to see if she could send me a Chanel box. The bag is in perfect condition with the plastic still on the hardware and the chain wrapped up, but it feels weird with an unmarked black box. I typically purchase from Chanel boutiques directly, but I have purchased a bag from Nordstrom Chanel and it still came in a box labeled Chanel although it was a little different. I'm hoping she can get me a box!
