Blogger who trashes her expensive bags

I find this is poor taste. If she wants a used bag, why not just buy a used bag in the first place?

Her tone and attitude seem to me like "Look what I can afford to do to my expensive new bags! I don't care what they cost!"

+1.

It's one thing to wear a bag as you please, but there was some sort of attitude about it that came off the wrong way.

I think it was the mention of gloating to others, tricking someone to not buy a bag so she could, calling it a "rich b**tch thrill" yet being grossed out by the price.

It really sounds like she likes the look of a pre-loved/used bag, but she likes the thrill of destroying it herself. To each their own, but the attitude is not necessary.

Essentially she is positioning herself in the fashion community by doing this to her bags. It is a fashion statement. I enjoyed her blog. It was fun. Like many creative types, she loves to rail against 'the world' by being slightly wise *** lol. She still identifies with big fashion, high end... But she is conflicted as she suspects that creativity is grittier, more 'dirty' and more current than the fancy long established European fashion houses (labels). But in decorating her bags she is still standing on the shoulders of that 'establishment' beauty when she makes her stand.
I get it. I enjoy her position. It's very urban. But I live in the country so... Won't be trashing my stuff to join the artistic metro glamour clubbing crew.

Very well said.

But then again- my original post has been lost for some reason :shrugs: - I am planning to have a friend who is an amazing graffiti artist do something to my LV Neverfull- since I never carry it anymore for the reason that I am tired of running into people with exact same purses everywhere I go...

What she did with her Balenciaga (worn-out/distressed look) was actually pretty cool. It would have fitted well with Cristophe Decarnin's Balmain 5-6 years ago.

I also do this to few of my new bags, but much cheaper canvas or nylon bags lol! I put on funny statement pin. I also have non brand velvet n satin dinner bag for me to have fun with different mood of brooches. When I feel funky I use skeletons, giant size safety pin, skull etc. And when I feel feminine I pinned on different brooch! I like to experiment many options n it's also as a way to express myself ever since I was a teenager [emoji16]

So I've read it but one question keeps going through my head... Could someone explain to me why her cleaning lady would offer her a bag?! (One she believed to be real!) Shouldn't it be the other way around? We used to offer our cleaning lady at home a gift for Christmas etc. but never would I expect a gift from her?

Eewww I just finished reading the blogger's post. I don't like her attitude. Yeah I also personalized by cheaper bags with pins, stitched on stuff etc BUT would NEVER purposely make it dirty!!! What's wrong with her? [emoji15]

I think she wants her bags to look old and very used like other "cool people" we often see on the "street style" snap shots or fashion blog etc, but doesn't have the patience to wait for years for it to soften up or look worn enough. I think all she did is trying to speed up the "aging" process, or exposing her bags to the extreme element in the short time. (There were a period in the TPF in the Bal forum that some posted about how they stuff their bags with heavy books and hung it on the door knob to lengthen the handles or make it look worn, too. If I remember it right, more than 10 people admitted to doing it and more than 20 gushed about how awesome the idea was. It's the same. Just not as extreme and a lot less tragic on the bag side.)

I think her Bal looks good. And I'm glad it survive the washing machine. The other bags look so so to me. They just look worn.

think she also must read a lot of fashion magazine especially those the feature "punk" or "cutting edge" style and want to duplicate the look.

On the funny note, somehow, "her personalization" remind me of many runway collections like the latest Chanel's "protesters" collection. No way I'm buying those trashy-looking bags with paints on even though it's intentioned by the designer. At least, on the bright side, hers are cheaper. They're already there in her closet and probably won't get worn enough. If by doing "this" to them, will make her worn them more often, to each her own.

I don't like the fake feedback she gave to the other girl, but then again, if that girl take the bag, although it won't be trashed, I'm not sure it'll get worn as much coz even the stranger's feedback can sway her heart out of it.

I can only hope that she'll keep loving those bags and use them often like she said. Coz otherwise it'll be very sad for the bags.
