I find this is poor taste. If she wants a used bag, why not just buy a used bag in the first place?
Her tone and attitude seem to me like "Look what I can afford to do to my expensive new bags! I don't care what they cost!"
Very well said.Essentially she is positioning herself in the fashion community by doing this to her bags. It is a fashion statement. I enjoyed her blog. It was fun. Like many creative types, she loves to rail against 'the world' by being slightly wise *** lol. She still identifies with big fashion, high end... But she is conflicted as she suspects that creativity is grittier, more 'dirty' and more current than the fancy long established European fashion houses (labels). But in decorating her bags she is still standing on the shoulders of that 'establishment' beauty when she makes her stand.
I get it. I enjoy her position. It's very urban. But I live in the country so... Won't be trashing my stuff to join the artistic metro glamour clubbing crew.
Perhaps your original reply got posted on the other thread about this article
What she did with her Balenciaga (worn-out/distressed look) was actually pretty cool. It would have fitted well with Cristophe Decarnin's Balmain 5-6 years ago.

I also do this to few of my new bags, but much cheaper canvas or nylon bags lol! I put on funny statement pin. I also have non brand velvet n satin dinner bag for me to have fun with different mood of brooches. When I feel funky I use skeletons, giant size safety pin, skull etc. And when I feel feminine I pinned on different brooch! I like to experiment many options n it's also as a way to express myself ever since I was a teenager [emoji16]
