Hello TPF members,

I need your help in deciding the right Birkin color for me because I am totally torn and unable to decide since a couple of days.

I have a chance to buy a Birkin 30 Resin GHW in Clemence leather or Bleu Nuit 30 PHW in togo.

I really can’t decide the color, I do know that I want a color that will not look dated or I will not bored of, the one that can complement my wardrobe. I wear dark blue, dark grey or black mostly. With a plain colored scarf, mostly brown, dark blue or pinkish/purplish.

I can try Resin since I got for trial but not the Bleu Nuit.
its not that I dont like Resin, I do (I love Bleu Nuit too ) and I love GHW more than PHW, but what’s stopping me is if Raisin looks better with me blue dress (this is what I wear outside normally) does Resin clash with dark blue dress? I don’t want to look cool or edgy, I just want to look decent. I am not a fashionable person :(

Looks great on you!
I would say Raisin is a great colour for your wardrobe because it would match nicely with dark blue but also pinkish tones. Would a subtle pop with black and gray. If you got Nuit, it would maybe feel out of sorts with blacks and grays.

Bleu Nuit with black dress.
I was thinking may be BN is quite common and plain and Resin is such a chameleon color, looks different in different colors.
Trying Resin made me realise that I have to be careful with my scarf choice. I don’t think it will be the same case with BN though.
Lol I am so undecided on this!

I vote Raisin (because I’ve always wanted that for myself lol). And it looks good on you. Bleu Nuit, whilst I wouldn’t have minded owning if I didn’t have a black Birkin already, is pretty dark that it it looks black in most lights. I think you won’t go either way, but I think Raisin is a great neutral, and ghw to boot!

It is such a matter of taste. Both bags are equally desirable.
Only earlier today I went out shopping with raisin chevre bag against jeans and thought - 'perhaps not an ideal combination'. Your question has made me think about that again. Perhaps raisin is not at its best against darker blues. making the colours leech.
Black is a universal classic; bleu nuit could be seen as a 'more interesting' version on black.
If you have reservations about the photo you shared - perhaps that is your answer.

Hah, I had the opposite impression as I wore mine today with a dark blue trench coat. But good point on the reservations @Lala-purse may be feeling when looking at the picture.

What does your gut feeling say, Lala?

I like darker color like navy blue, chocolate, plomb etc. Basically colors that are neutral and dark, close to black.
I am not sure if Raisin is neutral enough and that is what’s stopping me. But I like GHW and it sure does look very pretty combo.
BN is safer but I am not sure about PHW.
It would have been a much easier choice if it was a BN in GHW.

Raisin is so gorgeous. I consider it a neutral. I love bleu nuit as well. I’m sorry I’m not of much help but I think the raisin birkin in your picture goes so well with your outfit. But if you are not loving it - and it doesn’t sound like you are - get the bleu unit.

Both of these colors are on my wishlist and I mainly wear black, grays and blues. I also prefer ghw. If I had the choice based just on color and hardware, I’d pick raisin. But I would want the Togo of the bleu nuit! Either is a good choice but sounds like neither is exactly what you want. Maybe wait till the perfect option is available? Especially if you plan on only one bag like this in your collection.

This is just my opinion...

1. Both colors are gorgeous and are neutral.
2. Both leathers take their respective colors nicely.
3. Clemence is a better looking leather choice than Togo.
4. Raisin is a color I personally would not reach for in spring/summer.
5. Dark blue is all year round.
6. Raisin looks best in Gold hardware.
7. Bleu Nuit looks great in either gold hardware or PHW.
8. Raisin stands out slightly from your dark clothing.
9. Bleu Nuit will always recede against dark clothing.

Which of these statements do you agree/disagree with and which are important/not important to you?

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply! Its really helpful!

Now I am leaning towards Raisin, I tried it with different scarfs and realised it looks much better if I stick to mauve, pinkish/purplish colors, may be a nude or brown wouldn’t look very good.
I am including some shots.
