Black tights for light skirts?

I have a few light color winter skirts but I'm stumped on tights color.
One is a cream skirt the other light blue plaid.
Would black tights work or do I need to buy some other color?

Yes, so long as the combination looks like a deliberate fashion choice. People often do this with a contrasting skirt by wearing a black top. A black shoe would further the notion of a seamless transition. However, a lighter colored shoe, like a ballet or Mary Jane flat, or even a sleek white or light colored boot (think combat or Chelsea boot ) might also work, but would give off a certain retro look. For several seasons now, people have also worn a white sneaker or oxford for a dark academia or schoolgirl look that might be cute with black tights and a white shirt

Definitely not into the academia or schoolgirl look ; if I wear boots I probably would wear my lighter color beige ones that come up to my knees so I wouldn't be cold without tights.
Did you mean a light color shoe with black tights being retro? Sorry I was confused about that part.

But to me black tights and shoes just felt so dark and heavy with the lighter color skirts.
Maybe I will buy one pair of cream tights and try it out.
