I hope I didn't offend anyone. This is the first bag I have ever had a problem with quality and felt this odd. For the price of the bag, I was hoping to give people a heads up, but I don't want to ruin anyone else's love. Maybe the bag I got was just a lemon.

I'll post the shoes in a separate thread so I don't confuse people. :-)

Sorry the bag wasn't what you expected. I would definitely be disappointed too. I saw the color block one at the store yesterday and it looked like fake, plasticky leather also. So I think some of these are done well and others not so well. You should get a different one though because it looks great on you!

So sorry that this didn't work out for you. I imagine you feel disappointed, since you were really looking forward to seeing and getting this. I returned a pricey bag that I wanted to love...but couldn't get past the sheen that also made the leather look plastic-y. I think it's even worse in this Preston, than my python caroline...plus all the stitching issues you noticed...incredible!

I too will be spending my weekend on returns. I am exchanging my warm grey and white borough for the third time. If the 4th one I get disappoints, I'll live without it. I am returning my blush python sadie. Tried four of them. Each one comes with a very visible impression of the handle, on the front flap. Looks like the bag has some goofy smile on its forehead. Lol. Want one so badly. But tired of getting the same bag with what has either cheap or poorly tanned leather. I never thought I'd change handbag camps, but darn it. It's coming close to my rethinking my coach obsession I've pretty much said that before.

To add something different to that conversation, I remember when I discovered this forum and saw members who'd been steady followers for five years or thereabouts. I clutched my pearls wondering why they'd complain of quality , and pretty much wrote off what they said. Well, now here it am about 5-6 years later, surely causing other members here to pearl clutch as well. I wonder. Just as biologists say our hair undergoes major changes every 6-7 years, maybe the same goes for handbags. Lol. Seriously, I wonder if the cyclical nature of the coach business model promots a shift in quality every so often. Bags made in 2000 trumped bags made circa 2005-06. Bags made circa 05-06 seem to ***** circa 2010 and now here we are in 2014. Hmmm.

But the shoes! All bets are off on those. Omg. Saw your other thread. Clipping ramen noodles coupons right now. Love. Those. Shoes.

Oh no, for that price, I would want to know if there's a problem with it! Thank you for posting your review of that bag! I stopped by the boutique today, and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the mixed media Preston-the quality was better than what I was expecting. So sorry it didn't work out for you, but hope that means that you'll be able to fund other lovelies with that return! ;)

P.S. Now I'm a little worried about whether the python print on the large clutchable looks cheap or not...hard to tell if it's the same kind as the Preston's!

It probably doesn't. I have the Madison tote and it is beautiful. The finish on this bag lacked definition and contrast (the pictures don't show it well because the phone camera usually enhances contrast). The finish looked dull, flat and almost faded, like it has been left in the dun too long.. This particular print is the only time I have really seen that except for Proffashionista's bag that she posted.

I am sorry you are having such issues with the Borough and the Sadie. I hope you get two winners soon because they are both gorgeous bags.

I think you have a point regarding the cyclical nature of Coach. I am sure they change up there manufacturing vendors for different bags and perhaps some manufacturers produce better quality than others, resulting in some bags not hitting the Coach standard of quality.

I also think that when you buy several bags or you visit this forum, your expectations change. Most of the population would not be able to tell a fake from the real thing, let alone look at the details of a bag and say it was poorly made. I think most people would just use the bag until it falls apart as opposed to looking closely at the stitching. LOL. I mean really, who does that??!! :p

That being said, I do manage my expectations. I can live with certain imperfections and in some cases, it gives the bag character. My vachetta Lilly was bought new and came with a couple of very light marks on the vachetta, but that is the nature of the leather so it didn't bother me. I have several straps on bags that have been used a lot that are fraying a bit and I just snip off the threads and love them anyway. But this case was different and the price point was different.

I am not to the point where I will stop buying Coach at all, but I will probably be even more discerning when I buy new bags from them moving forward, especially at a higher price point.

Thanks for the pictures- and the review....for $700 I would expect PERFECTION and for the quality to be very very high.....your pictures really helped to show the lack of both.

The texture of that purse is rather interesting- although the black and white combo straps have me shaking my head...maybe too much?

How wonderful that your shoes are a GO GO GO though! Enjoy!

You've stated things very well. As always!

Wow - I really like the overall look of this bag, but the imperfections are inexcusable. :nogood: On the other hand, the shoes you revealed in the other thread are gorgeous! Hope you find another bag that you love!
