The two quotes are taken from the thread about Aussie Vogue, I'd intended to post this as a response on there but thought you may all be interested in seeing the price disparity across three different countries.

Suzie~ USA Birkin 35 $8400 plus tax:yes:

Including tax that's around $9,000 US dollars = $9,560 AUS dollars

Hey Susie, you are in luck if you are after the gold. The Main Beach store has a gold 35 birkin for $12160.

So it's about $2,600 AUS dollars cheaper in the US

In the UK it's £4,080 = $7,960 US dollars = $8,456 AUS dollars

This highlights the huge price differences in different countries and why they are putting the prices up in August. My SA said that the UK is the cheapest place to get a Birkin or Kelly and the August price increase is to bring the UK in line with at least the rest of Europe

Mooks, 4,080 pounds at today's XE.com exchange rates, is 5.136 euros, which would make the bag cheaper in the UK than in Paris; I doubt that can be right.....

I thought the price I paid for my Kelly in May was a bit too bargainacious compared to the stuff I was reading here. This August's price hike would have taken the 35cm retournee Kelly in Vache Ligee towards £4,000. But then in the UK we don't have to do lots of complicated maths adding sales tax etc - no wonder our brothers and sisters in the States hate taxes - they've made them so complicated!

I have been given a price for a 35 cm in togo which corresponds to approx. 9.915 USD/5.067 GBP/6.418 EUR (today's currency rates) and I think that the prices in Sweden/Denmark is about the same (not 100% sure of this though).

This is the only reason for why I am hesitating a bit (and I am hesitating even more now when I see how much more expensive it is here)- I don't like at all that I have to pay that much more than the rest of you:crybaby:.

The euro is currently over-valued due to the fact that investors frightened by the weakness of the dollar and wobbly pound are investing heavily in Europe. Consequently, we are seeing the UK pound price of the Birkin 35 as lower than the French price, which is currently 5300 for a togo/clemence birkin 35cm. Hermes is not the only european brand which is currently cheaper to buy in the UK than in the country of origin, see chloe & Prada.

Also with inflation super high everywhere (hello! 3.70 euros for butter!), the price rises when bought back into line will possibly be higher than expected. Ref. Mooks and the astonishing hike from 4080 to approx 5000 GBP for a birkin 35cm! I just really hope that for those of us with H bags on order that they come in sooner rather than later.
