Bigger or smaller ?

I have a 3-prong martini setting and a Tiffany 4-prong low profile basket setting. I prefer the 4-prong low profile basket setting. It's more comfortable to wear because of the flat base and the la pousette earring backs. I heard that the 3-prong martini setting can have a tendency to stretch a piercing if worn for an extended period of time, but I don't think that has happened to me as long as I don't wear the earrings really tight.
.
I wish I had known this before getting my martini settings because that's exactly what happened to me. I am actually about to trade-in my 1 ct martini setting studs for a 1.5 ct basket setting studs. But the damage is done on my piercing. :( I had wanted the martini because I preferred the look of the earrings sitting lower.

On the size, I have found that the 1 ct total weight (.5 ct each) was a nice size for every day wear, but not sure what your budget is. I am upgrading now because I want to switch settings and there is always the diamond "shrinkage" issue. :)

So glad to hear I'm not alone !

Hmmm...I had my ears pierced when I was about 16. I did not wear earrings for 2-3 years in my early 40s, and the holes did not close (I wanted them to because I am too lazy to wear earrings, I take them out every night because I don't like sleeping in them) so I gave up. I only wear studs when I wear earrings.

4 mm is nice :)
At the end of the day it depends on your budget. If you can only afford 4 mm for the moment go for it. You can always upgrade in the future. But going for bigger is also nice if you can stand the bling. But seriously between 4 mm & 6 mm a lot of people can't tell except when compared side by side.

How about buying bigger CZ and see if you like how it looks first after wearing those for a week?

Bigger is better. Also, you can have your ears repierced...the current holes will seal up eventually.

Not sure, mine was pierced when I was a child and after 20 years from not wearing any earrings they are still as good as new, I just decided to re-wear earrings and after 20 years the piercing never closed at all.
