So I am purchasing my first ever studs. I bought some cheap czs to try on for size. These are 4mm. Should I go larger or would it be too much ?

Also,I'm super self conscious that my piercing is really low on my lobes. Any one else have this problem?

Bigger! Definitely bigger.

It actually takes less than a year to close up. My 75 y/o MIL had it done and wondered why she waited so long!
How did your MIL have it done? Did it close up on its own, or did she have it closed professionally? I've had a bad piercing for over 20 years, and I've been contemplating getting my ear repierced, but I share the fear of holes merging.

Actually my MIL and SIL had repiercings done at the same time. They just stopped using the original holes and they grew in. In both cases their original holes had elongated from too heavy earrings so the new holes were not directly above, but above and slightly forward so there was no risk of the holes “merging”. You have room to do the same on your lobes if your photo is accurate and not distorted.

Thanks everyone! So, I'm thinking I could go 1 - 1.2 cttw. A little off topic but I'm thinking 4 prong basket vs martinis. 3rd option is 3 prong. Leaning towards the 4 prong martini.. it doesn't seem common for some reason. Thoughts ?

You can't go wrong with any of those choices, but personally, I usually prefer 4 prong over 3 prong. I haven't seen a 4 prong martini in person (not up close, at least) so I couldn't compare it to a basket setting, but I imagine I'd like it better than a 3 prong martini.

I'd really like to see a 4 prong martini. I tend to prefer diamond studs that sit closer to the ear. Combined with my preference for 4prong settings, it sounds ideal.

I have a 3-prong martini setting and a Tiffany 4-prong low profile basket setting. I prefer the 4-prong low profile basket setting. It's more comfortable to wear because of the flat base and the la pousette earring backs. I heard that the 3-prong martini setting can have a tendency to stretch a piercing if worn for an extended period of time, but I don't think that has happened to me as long as I don't wear the earrings really tight. They do have a tendency to droop on my ears a little bit though. I probably need to get new earring backs for them not to droop. But I do love the martini setting for making my diamonds sparkle like crazy even though my diamonds are an I1 clarity and an OK cut. My Tiffany diamond earring glow like crazy even though its setting obstructs more light. Its probably because the Tiffany diamonds are better quality.

HTH! Good luck deciding. You should probably try on different settings in different sizes to see which you like best.

They look great, I'd go a little bigger but it's a personal choice. Your holes are fine, at least they don't look stretched which is what I have. Nice to hear some experiences of the old piercings growing back (mine are 34 years old as they were done when I was 11 months) maybe I will have to be better about not wearing earrings for a period of time and see if they will close, I'd be fine with even partial closure.
