And by successfully, I mean not get agitated and wish that the bag was roomier.

I'm asking about smaller bags for every day use and not little purses like clutches.

I like to have a larger bag, but I like to have very little on the inside. When I have to remove some extra layers of clothing because it gets hot mid-day, then it goes in my empty large bag.
Also, sometimes I have materials to carry from & to work.

I could do small bags everyday, but then I have another bag to carry my work stuff. If I didn't have a job that didn't require as much responsibility, then yes, it would be very, very easy for me.

With that being said, I like large bags because it can dress up my outfit, but then, so can a small one. :/

It depends on how much I like the smaller bag.
It is still irritating, though. I have a couple of expensive next-size-down type bags that I thought I could deal with. I really can't and don't use them. When I did use them, they ended up being cussed out.

I have such a hard time switching to some of my smaller bags, but I have to occasionally because the big ones can get heavy. I like to be prepared for lots of different situations and feel awkwardly "naked" without all my just-in-case stuff that won't fit in my smaller bags.

oh yes i can, i use to carry huge bags, sometimes i even carry balenciaga weekender on daily basis, but that doesn't mean i fill it up

lately i've been downsizing my bags, and i've been successfully carrying a celine box in medium size for weeks and loving it.
it's not weighing my shoulder and it fits perfectly for my needs

I successfully transferred all of my necessary items from my big purse to a small box satchel. Everything fits except for an umbrella. So, technically, I could carry medium-sized bags instead of always carrying large ones and give my shoulders a rest.

I carry a briefcase into the office. I can put my umbrella in there.

I'll see how it goes this week. I'm buying another bag soon and I want to make sure that I won't get irritated with it. It's considered a medium by Nordstrom's size standards.

Same here!

I like to carry large bags, but don't carry much in them. I could easily use a small bag since I don't carry much, but feel like I have a child's bag when I downsize to a smaller bag.

I'm a "just in case" gal too, lol. I've tried carrying a small bag on short outings like church but I wasn't loving it. Maybe when my kids stop giving me stuff to hold Ill enjoy a smaller bag

It depends what you call a "small" bag. Even though I like to carry my whole house around with me most of time, I sometimes only take a smaller bag, as long as I can fit an umbrella in it because you never know when it's going to rain where I live.

I tended to always be toting around a big ol' bag because I am the queen of 'be prepared'. If you needed something, I was like Mary Poppins - it was likely somewhere in the depths of my bag of tricks.

However, I recently got into rehabbing vintage bags. And older bags are just a heck of a lot smaller than the vast majority of bags in my collection. So, I've recently gone into re-evaluation mode in terms of what I choose to lug around with me all the time, since I want to be able to show off my rehabbing handiwork! And, shockingly, I'm not missing having all that stuff on hand 'just in case' nearly as much as I was certain I would. So, dare I say, I may be reformed? It's kinda nice carrying a smaller bag...it's so much lighter, which has made my shoulders infinitely grateful! :smile1:
