Bi-color Birkin or Kelly

I only have one bicolor birkin, which was ordered from my previous home store and has sentimental values to me. I tend to rotate my bags, so I haven’t used it for awhile, but I also use it more in the winter because I carry more and the etain/ Gris Mouette is a 35 birkin. I def wear it and haven’t gotten sick of it yet. I think the key is to change it up, and make sure it works with your wardrobe. Good luck!!! It will be so much fun deciding the color/ hardware combo.
Thanks! I was also thinking two neutral colors but then I started to overthink about all the color combos I could make and now I’m back to square one:facepalm:

I already have Verso/Candy Birkin 30 in bright color, so that's why I chose Bi-color neutral for my Kelly 28, as you see in my profile picture:smile: I love both equally and I am taking turn to carry one of them every weekend.

@h<302 what do you think of this combination? I think this is a lovely neutral combination in either birkin or kelly and it would go well with many different outfits. I would love to do this combination myself except that I am worried the craie handle and shoulder strap would get dirty easily. A twilly could protect the handle though.

That’s the exact one I wanted to do if I was going to do a bi-color!!! But that’s the problem, I will have to keep the twilly on all the time...

I really like this combination for Spring/Summer, warm weather vacation, etc. Perhaps a twilly in similar tones would maintain the streamlined look that I think best honors the neutral, two-tone theme.

I would do it if I were you :) now I’m assuming that you already own other bags for regular or rotational use. So just go ahead and make something that you like! If you don’t use this craie handle bag as a daily or all weather bag, I’m sure it will stay pristine for a long time. Just some extra precautions like no hand cream, or keep a nice tonal twilly on.

I can’t do an all craie bag as for clumsy me, it’s always the body or corners of light colored bags that gets dirty first. But I’m telling myself too that if it’s just the handle, I should be able to solve the fear of getting it dirty with a twilly. And for kelly, actually I prefer to use the shoulder strap

As for the shoulder strap, well, there’s always the option of a nice pretty canvas strap to switch around with.

Let us know what you decide on! So happy and excited for you! :)

Thank you. That is very kind of you.

This was my first SO and was designed knowing that this would probably be my only bicolor exterior SO I would own. That’s because I’m not a bicolor fan for the most part due to the perceived difficulty in matching with my wardrobe (as others have mentioned).

I did make a newbie mistake in designing a bicolor SO. I did not take into account the resin in the overall appearance of the bag. For example, craie has a tan resin. Once I received the bag, I did not think it looked good with etain. It bothered me so much, I thought about selling the bag. I wanted the bag to be cool toned with gray/white; however, with the tan resin, it looked “confused” between cool and warm toned. My husband saw how conflicted I was, so he sent the bag to leather surgeons to have the resin repainted to match etain. I now absolutely love it. Yeah, I realize H may not spa the bag ever, but I don’t care. I can finally truly enjoy it now which means much more to me.
Do you still have the bag? Do you love it still. I am trying to find out as much as I can. Any feedback would be much appreciated

I just found a beautiful by color Birkin 35 in raising with a lie like interior is so beautiful I was just wondering if someone could give me a little background on the bag how does one get a buy color bag in the store is it a special order or do you have to be an extra special VIP again just trying to learn the history please share anything you know I’d appreciate it. Last question is one in box usual.

As you know production of Hermes bags is limited.
Therefore standard stock (if there is such) is confined to classic, in demand specifications or seasonal colours that will sell. Occasionally there are small production runs of feature combinations.
I think you will find that most bi-colour bags you see will be special order.
Even then you would not be given an unrestricted choice of colour combinations.
SO specifications can be rejected.

Thank you again for responding you always provide great information. Do special orders cost the same as a regular Birkins

Yes. That is the amazing thing, but you do pay the current cost at the time of purchase - not the cost at the time of order. So if you have to wait a long time you will likely pay more than if you bought it today. I suppose from a production point if view, because every bag is individually made by one artisan, it is just a case of giving her or him the correct set of hides.
AND if you do not like the bag when you see it, or no longer wish to purchase it, there is no obligation. Hermes knows that there will always be another client keen to take the opportunity to get a unique bag.

Post a pic so we can roughly say if it’s an SO or a vintage “Verso”. You aren’t exactly very clear about the specs of the bag except it’s a Box 35B. I think there were some Raisin Box bags with Cyclamen lining which were regular store orders and not SOs.

Is the piping also contrast, and is the second color a darkish pink?
