No, I don't feel uncomfortable hearing it or using the term. It's just a term. I think that it was just an easy way for the OP to let everyone know exactly what type of tank tops she was referring to without having to describe them. Since there are lots of different style of tank tops, you can't really just say "Best Tank Tops?"
i love my Old Navy ones...I have them in 12 different colors![]()
I was not saying my comment directly to the OP. I just meant that in general people use this term a lot and I find it offensive. In college, I used to volunteer for a domestic violence organization and I saw too much so maybe that's why I may sound a little over the top. I guess when a person has been exposed to the reality of domestic violence even a term like "wife beater" is offensive.
I'm sorry but I don't quite understand why people use the term "wife beater" for a tank top when it has such a horrific meaning. I know it's slang but I don't think it should be used. I am not a victim of domestic violence or anything but I find this term very offensive and I really don't like it at all. In case you guys didn't know this term originated from the show Cops and apparently almost every man that they arrested for domestic violence was wearing one of these.
Does anyone else feel uncomfortable using or hearing this term?
