Best Tote for a Job Interview?

I'm an editor, so I carry around a lot of papers. I went for a very tiny tote because my shoulders tend to bother me so I carry around a simple belted ergo tote in plum. Fits my needs okay, but everybody always wonders how I stuff all my crap in there.

I was going to suggest the belted ergo. They had them at my outlet today in black & tobacco leather for I believe $199.99 + 20% off

I had a turn lock fall off a wallet. I think it's the luck of the draw but have stayed away from them since. I think the Gigi is a GREAT bag but it is really heavy. I love the Ergo Line as well and it is so much lighter.

I just went through this trying to find a bag for job interviews bit and while I LOVE Coach I felt it was important for me to find a bag that was professional looking but not stuffy and that was not identifiable as a designer bag. I am in entertainment. Lots of folks carry designer bags but some do find it a turnoff and I while I believe that one should carry what they like I have heard that some potential employers if they see you carrying an expensive bag they wonder how badly you actually need / want the job. This could just be my profession so keep in mind I am just putting my two cents in. I freelance and recently had a job where I was the only one carrying a designer bag in the building and when people started making comments I stopped carrying to work.

Anyway this said I searched for a non descript bag and found the one pictured below. It's a Cole Haan Arin Tote. It fits everything from my purse and a handful of files and a bottle of water. I bought it in a Black Pebbled Patent Leather and I love it. Check it out!

If you think you can get away with a Coach Bag I vote for the Gigi

...just my $0.02, but here goes...my title is really long, but it boils down to this - I'm a supervisor over a team of recruiters. The most important thing when you go to interview is to make sure that your accessory item is professional and not overwhelming. You're in a creative field, so you don't need to carry a briefcase, and you're right on track with staying away from sig. Here's a thought...get something nice, maybe not Coach (I know, heresy) that's reasonably priced and on the conservative side. The Gigi is beautiful, but hey, that's a lot of $$ to drop on a bag, and until you're in the job, you won't know if you really need a bag like that, or if you need a messenger that will fit a laptop...know what I mean? Of course, if you want a Gigi I'm here to enable you all the way - it's an awesome bag. But if you're looking for something that's specific to interviewing, maybe grab an MK on sale at Dillards, or check what's available at the Maxx or Marshalls - a lot of times they have great totes too. Again, not trying to be a dream stomper - that Gigi is TDF, and if you decide on that it would serve you well. Good luck in whatever you decide, and in your job search! People like me are always excited to see people like you - it's amazing how many people don't give a moment's thought to their interview attire!!! Your dream job is out there - and whatever you decide, you'll do great!

Have you considered a leather gallery tote? I think this is very polished, but yet it could also be fun if you tied the right scarf on it after the interview!
