Sorry to hear that, I have nothing but the strongest praises to sing about Leon!

You should definitely try and discuss your ideas w/ each of them, I'm sure one of them will feel like the right match for you.

I have had something custom made by Victor Canera and can strongly recommend him. He is a very nice person and does perfect work! I would say that Steven Kirsch has made some excellent things as well. But I can no longer reoommend LM because of some very serious issues involving workmanship, ethics, and customer service.
Not to rock the boat or anything but I think it's a serious issue to make an open ended comment about someone's ethics and workmanship and leave it at that. It's someone's professional reputation after all. I think the best options would be to explain what happened and let people judge for themselves or not say anything at all. I don't mean to be in your face about this but I work in a profession where ethics matter and it's a sensitive subject for me.

You can google the names and see reviews for each of the people. There are some eye popping situations and too many to assume that it was a personality clash or miscommunication.

Eh, you know, sometimes when you Google things you get extreme opinions. Usually the maddest people squeak the loudest so you only see negative reviews.
Sort of like when you google that rash on your arm and come away from computer sure you're dying in 2 weeks of some terrible cancer? Lol!
Or even here, go into any forum and you'll find a thread of angry members complaining about the quality of said designer. There may be some unhappy, but we don't hear from the majority that IS satisfied.

Good suggestions have been made. It's a good start, meet/discuss your needs w/ each, you'll figure out quickly who best meets your needs.

Well, most of what I know has been publicly posted. But things like rings coming apart, shanks going out of shape, stones coming out, etc.,...those are examples of workmanship issues (reviews easily accessible on Yelp, etc.). Criticizing customers diamonds is another issue. And there are other issues that are more recent and are not yet posted. I had him make a ring for me once and it went smoothly. The ring was not perfect, but I did not complain. I later changed settings. I am sure the majority of rings are well-made. However, I would personally not be willing to take that risk when I know that the risk is far lower using someone like Victor Canera.

Thanks so much for all of the input. I was amazed at all of the different selections. I checked all of them out. I ended up going with a totally different designer that I had not heard of...Precision Set. I saw their work and it was beautiful...also could be handles through my jeweler (which I like). I will post pics when it is back! :smile1:
