But she said she couldn't face lying on Instagram- portraying herself as happy etc when she is so sad- for years (not just now after the death).
I think then her mental health would need to take priority.

Well...I understand that she should prioritize her mental health, we all should! But that is her decision to make if she wants to or not. She may not be lying per-say, but she is probably just trying to hide her challenges to the rest of the world to make it seem like she is okay to avoid scrutiny, or to perhaps just cope with it silently. Because of the stigma behind mental health, many people avoid talking about it and hide that part of their lives, pretending like things are okay. Along with this, some assume that pretending to hide or ignore mental health challenges may actually solve the problem.

Nobody's life is all happy.

Bella is a model, she'd get lots of exposure and work without having any SM accounts at all. She (and Gigi) have chosen the spotlight and when it suits them, use paid PR and SM to market themselves. She pays Google to put her insta account at the top of the page after a name search.

Actually, I find bit just as manipulative to cry on Insta (or any SM) as it is portraying yourself living a perfect life. It's basically envy me, but remember I'm very sensitive so be kind to me too.

She's also just made a HUGE deal with Victoria's Secret as part of their VS Collective (VS gone woke?) so the timing is - timely. Also during the last day Hadid is quoted as saying "I feel empowered again," Hadid added. "I feel empowered in lingerie, instead of feeling like my body is some sort of money maker."

Well a close friend of hers, Virgil Abloh, just passed away. So she must be sad.

Therapy doesn't always help. I've battled depression and anxiety for years, the therapy is always hit or miss. I avoided it for a long time because of how terrible my experience was the first time, and the way so many dismissed my mental health challenges at the times.

And just because you can afford it, doesn't mean it is still accessible. There is a lot of stigma that prevents people from seeking therapy. Unfortunately, it is not as normalized and considered taboo in many cases to talk about mental illness and seek therapy.

The comments above and the reason why this thread started proves that. Shes talking about how shes sad, anxious, and depressed. And people jump to conclusions and comment ignorant things like 'shes hungry" or whatever...

This is why some people hold their challenges in. They face a mockery when they open up about it. Thats why they hold it in until they can't tolerate it any longer and explode... I think bella is brave for talking about her challenges. Plus, she is maybe just looking to vent or connect with others who may be feeling the same way as a way to cope.

Also, social media is a huge part of her career, its not easy for her to just leave it. But I do hope she gets the help she needs and overcomes any mental health challenges she is facing.
I love your comment and how empathic you are.

I have depression & anxiety myself - and in Germany, where I live, therapy is free because of our great insurance & healthcare system. So anyone could go to therapy, no matter if they can afford it or not.. still there is stigma everywhere and other factors to consider. I also made terrible experiences with highly certified therapists.

and then: I am a model, too. Of course not a famous celebrity model - but I work as a model. And the jealousy and hate which goes with scentences like "models don't eat" is really not classy. I am a 26 year old woman which was always thin and also I was a gymnast from a very young age. In my early years I trained about 5 times a week and today I am still very active with working out from 3-6 times a week. I eat loads. Sometimes even more than my boyfriend which is even taller than me. In the end it comes down to physical activity & metabolism.

I think it is really awful, that publicly shaming skinny women is widely accepted nowadays. No one here in this forum would have written here something like "maybe she ate too much" or "maybe she cries because she is so fat that her joints are hurting" when there was a obese celebrity crying on Instagram, because everyone understood at this point that body shaming is unacceptable.

The video where she cries was uploaded maybe one week before Virgil's passing, if I think of the right video. But still. She is human. And I am pretty sure that there are a lot of affluent people here in this forum which work for example in corporate/real estate and suffer from mental health issues. But I am pretty sure no one would tell them to just left their jobs if it "causes them so much stress" and would talk to/about them in such a rude way.

of course prioritizing mental health would be ideal, no matter what - any job, but unfortunately it is not simple as that & it is not what our capitalist society is all about.

and also: what do we really know about Bella? Maybe she visits a therapist. Who said that she doesn't go to therapy?

I dont think anxiety/depression ever goes away, it’s a human condition, which therapy helps to understand and accept…Bella is a beauty with money and power, still only human. I actually appreciate her showing vulnerability, what I don’t agree with is the ‘glamour’ that she perpetuates, people see daily and assume life‘s just like that.

I support and applaud her for acknowledging her issues. I hope she is taking steps to alleviate them (such as going to therapy; however, as others have said above, therapy does NOT work for everybody), or seeing a psychiatrist.

What I don’t support and applaud her for is sharing her struggles with the world. In my opinion she should keep it to her family and closest friends. The whole world doesn’t need to know about it. I do think “regular people” should be more open about their mental health…..with their family and closest friends. But broadcasting it on social media is a bit too attention seeking.

I applaud Bella for sharing her issues. We live in a world of social media where so many of celebrities
life's issues get blown out of proportion. Better to hear the words from her own lips than put on a front page
of a rag paper. The stigma to mental health issues in this world is unconscionable
There are so many people who suffer from various health issues & don't always have the
courage or strength to seek the help they need , often feel very alone & vulnerable. She shared her
struggles in the way she needs to do for herself. It speaks volumes IMO & if she can help
one life she will have accomplished something positive.

Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about your mental health challenges and how it is affected by and impacts your career. I hope that you are doing better and have the support you need.

I completely agree with everything you said. We live in a capitalist world where we have to keep pushing ourselves towards "success" even if it means sacrificing our physical and/or mental health.
