BARENIA-What's the other FAUVRE Handbag Alternative?

Roo, I had a noisette box birkin and my recollection is that it was very similar to my current natural barenia in terms of color. Box has the shine which gives it a dressier feel. Personally I prefer palladium (brushed even better) with both natural barenia and noisette box.

Hi rockerchic - I had a flick through the brown colour thread, and think I found you noisette birkin - what a pretty bag that was!

I probably wouldn't go for box again as I have a bbb - and wanted something more carefree. (My togo or epsom are fab because, although I do carry a longchamps inside - I generally don't worry about showers, - downpours, now that's another matter!)

I'm guessing the feel and texture is what makes barenia so special - looked at belt again and wondering if tadelakt might feel a little flat in comparison? Barenia lovers, please feel free to elucidate!

Glad another in favour of the phw - see a few examples in the colour thread and it still looks wonderful!

I hope 880 doesn't mind me posting a pic of her Noisette Box Jige next to my Natural Barenia Picotin and Barenia/Toile Evelyne. Color is just about the same. Box is smoother/shinier compared to my one month in use Barenia Picotin which is matte and silky since patina hasn't been established. Takelkat will give you a more matte look. Hope this helps.

Dear Rileygirl thank you for this helpful picture - coming to realise that fauve is a lovely colour whatever the leather! (And, seemingly, more uniform than other colours in the brown family presents in differing leathers).

Throwing the toile into the mix poses yet another option, which I will screen out for the time being (but I would love a barenia/toile birkin - must focus, must focus!)

Joking apart, the comparison does serve well to show just how much more a relaxed look the barenia offers compared to the box or even the tadelakt - this picture is most helpful musing material! :thinkin:Thanks again!

I have a well-patina'd 10 year old barenia 32 HAC which doesn't seem to have a problem with drips of rain, coffee (whoops), sticky fingers, etc. I think once you get it broken in or preferably buy it already broken in it's not so high maintenance. You have to like the look of the saddle leather though. It is a bit rugged not ladies who lunch kind of vibe. Which appeals to me but if you like "perfection" maybe not. Also, I have brushed palladium on mine and I think it looks great.

Hi mcs1111 - got that covered with other bags! LOL And that's the very appeal with this colourway and potentially that leather.

I'm just having a wobble about such a beautiful, iconic, (not to mention expensive) bag, getting irredeemably stained - and not entirely sure if it would be brought back to usable state. To go or not to go for the softer option - that's the question! :p

I saw gold in swift leather with white stitching on a mini kelly, and it looked very rich and caramel-y. More than I would have thought it would. Not sure if this is an option for you.

Ooh, I forgot about this. You're right. In fact, it was seeing gold swift that made me love the lindy when I saw that combo. The colour in swift is gorgeous.

shoemania, xquisite - Sounds intriguing - I have a small piece in epsom gold, and it's a lot brighter than the fauve and wondered how it translate in swift. So would love to see a picture of swift in gold - has anyone seen any on the forum and could point me in the right direction? TIA

(apols everyone for the misspelling in the title btw!:shame:)

What a great collection! And some combinations I'd have never have thought of - like the porc, and gold togo!
