Let me start by saying that I LOVE all of my handbags for different reasons, butI was looking through my bag collection and realised that there are some bags that I am 100% fine that I paid full price for, but some I would never have purchased without them being on sale, at outlet or pre-loved.

It's not that I don't think the quality is good, or that I don't like the bags, but for some reason just would begrudge paying full price for these particular pieces. Maybe it has something to do with my brand preferences :hrmm:

It got me thinking, does anyone else have bags that they love, but would not pay full price for?

The bags I wouldn't buy at full price are:

Givenchy Antigona - LOVE this bag but something always pulls me away from buying another at full price at the boutique (I got this as a Christmas gift a few years ago at full price from Harrods)

Givenchy Pandora - again really useful bag but wouldn't pay full price (bought on sale)

LV Keepall - I bought mine vintage and get a lot of use out of it but from the wear that I have added to the bag already, it wouldn't be worth it to be to get one with a flawless cream vachetta :annoyed:

Balenciaga Papier Tote - Amazingly constructed bag, beautiful leather and so good for everyday, but definitely wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't 50% off.

Celine Luggage Tote - For some reason I ended up with three, paying about 30% under retail for each bag, and now have fallen out of love with them :hrmm: I'd buy another, just to add to my collection, but again, not at retail price.

I seem to be completely fine paying full price for LV (hangbags, not luggage), Goyard, Gucci bags that I have and would buy them again and again at retail price, but not the ones listed above :hrmm:

Let me know if you have any bags you feel this way about! Would be nice to hear that I'm not the only one who feels this way

Basically any bag I can buy on sale or with a discount/coupon from a reseller.

But of course, there are a lot of people who have a very generous income and enjoy just getting the item they want right there and then, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Yeah. Maybe it’s the savvy shopper in me that loves a bargain :P

The word frugal is not often used to describe me, although I am getting better! BUT paying full price for a handbag is something I try to avoid at all cost! There is just no way i can justify paying $100 or $200 or even $1000 more because there is a tiny bit of wear on the bottom of a bag. Or because it has softened! I want it softened.

If I can get the bag on sale whether it’s during a seasonal sale or at an outlet, I’m not paying full price for it and I have pretty healthy income. It just hurts to see an item go on sale. I’m also pretty patient when it comes to some of these bags.

I have no problem paying full price for LV, Chanel, and the Lady Dior since those never go on sale.

Honestly, I've tried to stop buying bags where I'm more concerned about paying full price than it selling out. I try to be patient and prudent, finding discount codes where I can or if I know a holiday is coming up where there's likely to be sales when it's feasible, but if I'm buying a bag I wouldn't otherwise be inclined to at a discount, I'm still spending that money on a bag I don't really want. I'd rather save that for another bag.

I agree! I am fine paying full price for something that I know will not go on sale. I used to love Burberry but seeing their bags and other items at 50% off in their sale hurt me a little, lol.

Basically all bags are like this. Things are (too) expensive these days and bags are just an expensive hobby, I don't need as many as I have. "Just get a bag, put your stuff in it", as someone on TV once said. One would basically be enough to get my crap from one place to another.

If I have to have something I always look for a discount or find preloved - this goes for bags, SLG, clothes, shoes, stuff for home, travel, tires for our car, presents we give, etc. I always try to look for at least -40-50% discount price before pulling the trigger.
Within the last year I think I've bought a LV 6 ring key holder and a Furla card wallet (a special edition from the Little Twin Stars collection) for full price, everything else I've managed to make some sort of savings on.

If I can save enough I will buy preloved. I do pay full price for a few lv and Chanel items, but other than that I prefer to pay significantly less than retail. I do like a good bargain and I am patient!

Bottega Veneta

For the longest time, I had a BV knot clutch on my wishlist. I really hate the new car-like depreciation these bags get right as one walks out the store, so I could never stomach paying full price. I ended up finding my dream knot clutch on TRR....with the added assistance of a coupon, I acquired an excellent condition mixed python and leather gray knot clutch with an additional hidden chain strap for $500 instead of near $3K!!!!
