Bag That Resembles Hermes Kelly

Funny you should mention the bamboo handle bag from Gucci, because I wanted that so badly from the sale and couldn't get it.

The Valextra Isis is stunning and really has that Kelly feel to me, so thank you. It's a little out of my range, but I'll keep it in mind.

Both are classics. Don't give up with the G BTH yet, I'm sure there must be more about

Have you thought about the Ferragamo, there are some nice more classic styles-the Sofia comes to mind. I love the bags, don't have any yet....

I was also going to say the Ferragamo sofia. The quality is fabulous! ! The depth is a little wider but I love mine

The SF Sophia is a great bag...well made!

Launer is a great suggestion, many of their bags are Kelly-like and Ferragamo would make a great alternative

I thought of a few more:

Delvaux, Tempete or Brilliant (also also pricey though unless you can find pre-loved) Madame (has a shoulder strap) and not so much price wise

Chanel used to do a Kelly style and are not too much price wise on the second-hand market

MIu Mui Madras

What about some of Hermes' other vintage bags like a Piano or Drag or Pullman? I've seen some possibles for under $2K

Have you looked at Lederer bags? They are practically identical, and they do come in exotic skins. You can mostly find them on the second-hand market (don't know if that would be a problem for you). They are very good quality skins too.

I spent some time at the shop examining other models and the quality is superb. Plus, you can personalize every bag inside and out, also the stitching, etc.

I checked out their version of the Kelly - it's practically identical in very way except for the hermes logo. Surprised they're allowed to replicate the bags so closely in the EU - the European countries and France particularly are very strict about copying distinguishing elements of a bag's design.

Even saw on asos once a bag that was kinda copying the shape of a Celine bag would not ship to France. So my question is, if I buy this cellerini bag, can I bring it through French customs? And second, aren't Hermes doing anything to stop such similar 'inspirations' of their products?

I'm head over heels in love with the Hermes Kelly and have been for years. It's not really doable for me, and I'm not comfortable with the second hand market. What I love about the Kelly is that it's structured, it's not too deep (deep bags hang like bricks from my shoulders), it's classic and ladylike. I've been on the hunt for a bag that gives me the same feelings of love, but I'm coming up short. Can anyone recommend a bag that would be similar to the Kelly bag? I'm looking to stay under 2K.

I know Samantha Thavasa and Samantha Vega has a lot of bags in this Hermes-Birkin/Kelly-like design. It's a well-made bag brand fronted by Miranda Kerr and a whole host of Japanese models. They have both faux leather and genuine leather and match well with your budget. I totally love their designs and various colours. However it is quite young-ish.

If by classic you mean more 'grownup', there is also Michael Kors Hamilton East West satchel, if you're not adverse to MK though. It's Hermes-like without the flap, and also below your budget.

The Louis Vuitton may be above your price range but the Capucines MM is similar to a Kelly with an easier opening (just a flap which may not be desirable). I love it and decided to get one instead of a Kelly. I found the Kelly to be a pain to get in and out of and could not leave it dangling open. It (LV) has a short handle but fits over my shoulder without a heavy coat.

Chloe makes great bags. Love ferragamo for Qualität, Design and Lifestyle. Mytheresa.com is a Great Site for ideas. A Kelly is a Kelly, though. (I think. ). I am in your price range, I found a vintage BBK. And I am looking forward to using it everyday. I know I would not be happy with the cellirini. What is uncomfortable with Second Hand for you?

How about the Tiffany Olivia bag? It has that classic style you're looking for and is just under 2K at $1950. Only problem is, there aren't many color selections. I remember it came in a taupe-ish gray, a multi taupe/sand color and now I only see the black on their website. You may want to call one of the boutiques that carries bags to see if they have other colors.

I'm a fan of top-handle front-closure/flap bags so several came to mind that have not yet been mentioned. They don't resemble the Kelly but they are all beautiful. If the Tiffany isn't quite what you're looking for, take a look at some of these:

Moynat Rejane. Structured, leather lined, top handle and detachable shoulder strap. Reminds me of the Kelly but price is less than half. Made in France too!

I like the Valextra and Delvaux too. I've tried both on. Valextra will run 3k though and Delvaux is more than that I'm pretty sure. Peekaboos run close to 4k but I'm a big fan of that style. I actually prefer that one over the Kelly (everyone will probably hate on me for that one). You could go LV Cluny but it will run close to 3k as well.

Maybe check out the Lancel Charlie bag? (it's not as structured though).

The Gucci Dionysus Top Handle is another (it comes with an additional plainer leather strap)
