I've been trying to minimize and clean up my handbag collection. I have so many bags that I bought when I was single and had a good paying job but I never use them now that I'm old and have kids. [emoji23] I want to purge them and get some money to buy something nice for myself ( sahm now) but can't seem to let go of much. I don't want to regret it later. Here is my core collection now aside from some basic totes. I've already set to sell some older miu miu and Marc Jacob bags I haven't used in 10 years. Anything from here that should go? Thanks ladies! ImageUploadedByPurseForum1462250655.476945.jpg

I feel your pain! I think that anything that you haven't used in a coule of years should go. Perhaps pick several that you love and feel that you can't let go of--then bite the bullet and purge the others? Ugh. Not easy!

If you haven´t used a bag in years, then I would think that it can go. Except that you see your life changing again in the near future (with the kids getting older, leaving the house, you going back to working or something like this). If this will not be happening for the next couple of years, then I would seriously considering selling some of the bags - although it is a great collection. But there will be other nice bags if you feel that a certain style is missing. Good luck!

Perhaps look at your lifestyle and think if you really need the bag? Some of the gorgeous petite bags you have can be used for evening too, which is perfect! I would keep some colours in too, so your bag collection would not be all black.

I love your bag collection! Beautiful items!!! You and I are both fans of Chanel, Prada and Miu Miu. 😍
I agree with the earlier comments. Anything you haven't worn in a year or two that isn't 1) a forever bag or 2) something you will definitely use as your kids are older should be sold immediately. You can put that money & storage space to better use.

Aside from that, you are heavy on black bags. So I would pick the one or two that I don't use much and sell those. It's hard picking for someone else but I would probably sell one or both of the Miu Miu pouches and / or the Miu Miu bow bag. I'd definitely keep the Chanels as they can be worn dressy or casual and will only cost you more to rebut later (at potentially lower quality). The balenciaga is a good unstructured option in collection - keep. I have a similar bag to your Miu Miu shopping tote in a different color and adore it. It's a lady bag with attitude - keep. I'd keep the red for color. Small pinky beige Prada is a gray summer / non black option - keep. And the (I think) Mark Jacobs tan one in the lower left should be a keeper. I don't own this bag but hear good things about it. You need lighter bags and it's a cutie - keep. The tan bag upper left I think can go. Definitely your SLG's should stay.

I think you have a great collection without a lot of fluff so I vote for keeping the vast majority with a few options I noted above to sell if you just feel you must downsize.

Enjoy your process! 😊👍

Well first of all, nice collection. ;) Second. Kids grow up(and fast) so be careful getting rid of anything that may reach beyond budget later and still be useful.

Next, agree if you haven't used it in ages there likely is a reason why, it's okay to like bag doesn't mean you have to own it, some just don't end up suiting us like we had thought.

Doubling(or more) of same style bags is a good place to begin if reduction is the goal. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your input and thought process :) exactly what I need, lol.

I've been leaning towards selling the bow bag though I love it, it just isn't me anymore. And the miu miu matelasse tote I love and is such a good work bag so I'm not letting that one go. I guess anything I have lukewarm feelings for should go. I know I have a lot of black, and I did have a lot more color before but find that after awhile I revert back to black. The Marc Jacobs and Prada are both pink beige and cross body so I think one needs to go. And you're right the Miu Miu matelasse clutch is a bit redundant and should probably go. I use my WOC for my everyday bag and it's a great clutch as well. Seriously best purchase. <3

Thanks so much - really helps to get another opinion to talk it through! And this is such a good exercise. I think once done I'll feel better about loving every bag I own. Then on to clothes and household items!!!

Thanks :) I feel like we all end up buying some version of the same bag over and over :)

Please, keep all of them! Its a beautiful collection, very practical and its an old days quality!
I may agree only on the post suggested to cancel obvoius doubles. But black bags are all very useful. I won't sell a thing from this collection. You have a very good taste in purses.

Since you are looking to cut back on some of your current collection due to life style changes & to fund something new, my suggestion would be to let go of some of your black bags, Just not any of your Chanel classics ;) GL

I'd also check resale value (a search on ebay will help). If you find a bag you love/like but don't use that much right now has little resale value, I'd keep it if you think you might use it later.

If you want to keep them, keep them. They're very nice bags, especially both reissues.
Agreed - if you have the space and you think one of your kids will like to use these bags, I would keep them. They are beautiful, represent an investment of your time and money and energy, and classic bags. If you need the space or money for other purposes, I would think of reselling some.

i would get rid of the miu miu and other lower-end designer bags and keep just the Chanel and Bal stuff. Miu Miu really skews towards a younger demographic, so the fact you now have kids... maybe you've outgrown those? miu miu and marc jacobs don't get much on the resale market so if $$$ is needed... sell some Chanel stuff

Thanks! It would be so easy to keep them all and I agree they don't make bags like the use to especially Marc jacobs. I just feel like I need to purge and cleanse everything right now [emoji38]
