I bought a Bottega Veneta Teen Lauren 1980 bag in large size on Mytheresa a month and a half ago. I payed 3500€ for it! First, the bag arrived in completely different Pinecone shade than on the photos, but I decided to keep it as it was still fine..
After just 3-4 times of wearing it, the leather started wrinkling and pulling back on some parts of the bag.
I asked Mytheresa to check it and let me make an exchange for something else or at least send me a new bag and they rejected stating that it's my fault how I wore the bag.
Then I contacted Bottega Veneta who replied "this is wear and tear, not our mistake in production". I take care of my bags and I collect them. I have never seen before that a bag from a brand that presents themselves as "lifetime quality" doesn't want to do a single thing to fix something like this.

Potential buyers-BE CAREFUL WITH MYTHERESA AND BOTTEGA! I am pretty sure I am not the only one with this issue-if I am,my luck was just so bad.. My advice is to avoid bags with this kind of creation of leather because it is not long lasting.

Here are also some photos so you can see what I am talking about..
I have five BV bags, but will discount one as it is not really a weave - so four. Three of them, I use only lightly. One of them, I treat as a throw bag and take it out with everything. None of them, including the throw bag, have had this happen. I get the “normal wear and tear” perspective because I can see how it could happen and I’ve seen BV bags that have similar wear, but it’s odd that it happened after only 3-4 times carrying the bag. I’m also a bit surprised at MyT - they are one of the very few stores I have never had a complaint about. In any event, it’s BV that should be able to give you some guidance on how to stop further damage. I’m not much help there as I’ve never had to deal with them directly. Good luck!

Hey, thank you for your reply😍. I have good news! Bottega decided to let me exchange the bag... Even though Mytheresa rejected me rudely, Bottega customer support showed understanding and empathy for my case. I already returned the bag to them and I am now waiting for them to send me Small Andiamo bag🥳! I'm so happy!

Awesome customer service !! I’ve been really happy with Bottega’s CS of late, compared to some other luxury brands. Even though I purchased my medium Andiamo when it first came out, so it was not included in the certificate of craft at the time, the SA ensured me that if anything happened to the bag they’d of course take care of me, and when I’ve stopped by the store while using it (same with my suede hop) they’ve done complimentary cleanings / leather moisturizing on my bags. A little sad to say since frankly all luxury shopping should be this way when we spend so much, but it definitely makes me want to continue coming back to the brand !
