I just recently had a family member help me purchase a Bottega bang bang vanity bag when he was on vacation in Italy. When he returned to the U.S. and gave me the bag, I realized that the zipper is almost impossible to zip, and it just feels like it is defective zipper / poor quality bag. This is my first time purchasing a bag from Bottega, so I’m not quite sure what to expect. I know that on their website, it says that items can only be returned in the country it was purchased in but does anyone know if Bottega will let me at least exchange the item in the U.S.? Or if they will fix without charge? The bag was purchased less than a week ago. It would be extremely frustrating to have spent thousands of dollars on a bag I can’t even use or have to spend money on to fix.

All items purchased at the boutique comes with a warranty so you should be able to take it into your local store. They can advise on the best next step. FWIW I’ve been able to exchange luxury items locally when they were purchased abroad in the past, as long as you have the receipt and it was within 2 weeks or so.

I have had poor experience repeatedly from BV CS, it's been pure BS time after time, but I'd hope if your new bag was bought in a standalone store in Italy (i.e. not dept. store or duty-free) that BV would replace the bag or at least send for repair (for free).

I feel that shape of bag is always harder to zip/unzip and the more flexible the material/leather the harder it is.
This is my feeling as well. I had a similar issue with the zipper being a bit stiff (though not the same as OP's model and I bought it in the US). It didn't bother me as much since I chalked it up to the bag being brand new, so I just casually mentioned the issue at the boutique where I bought it, and they fixed it right away free of charge. In my experience, the customer service was very good. I would try going to the nearest boutique to see what they can do to help.

I bought a Bottega Veneta Teen Lauren 1980 bag in large size on Mytheresa a month and a half ago. I payed 3500€ for it! First, the bag arrived in completely different Pinecone shade than on the photos, but I decided to keep it as it was still fine..
After just 3-4 times of wearing it, the leather started wrinkling and pulling back on some parts of the bag.
I asked Mytheresa to check it and let me make an exchange for something else or at least send me a new bag and they rejected stating that it's my fault how I wore the bag.
Then I contacted Bottega Veneta who replied "this is wear and tear, not our mistake in production". I take care of my bags and I collect them. I have never seen before that a bag from a brand that presents themselves as "lifetime quality" doesn't want to do a single thing to fix something like this.

Potential buyers-BE CAREFUL WITH MYTHERESA AND BOTTEGA! I am pretty sure I am not the only one with this issue-if I am,my luck was just so bad.. My advice is to avoid bags with this kind of creation of leather because it is not long lasting.

Here are also some photos so you can see what I am talking about..

They reject to help I think... In my case they rejected to do anything..

I actually disagree with the other comments, I have lots of bottega and that shouldn’t happen that quickly unless you are wearing the bag with rough clothes (like jeans). That’s what it looks like to me…that it’s been rubbing against stuff. Which also explains why it’s only happened on some parts of the bag.

Lambskin, while beautiful, is delicate in wear. Will be the case with pretty much any lambskin bag (see Chanel’s lambskin, etc). If you like the weave look but don’t want to treat your bag delicately or don’t like signs of wear, try one of bottega’s calfskin ones. I have calfskin and lambskin bottega, and my daily driver type bags are all calfskin bc I, like you, don’t love signs of wear

Maybe I'm missing something but the wrinkles would look to be normal wear I would think? The leather is soft and woven and as it is used I would think in places it would be compressed and other places of the bag stretched as there is weight in it.
Yes..it would be ok if some time passed. However, if the bag is new it makes no sense because this is not a soft bag, it's structured. I wasn't irritated that much by the wrinkles, the leather pulling back and kind of shedding(if I wrote the correct word😅) is the problem..I am so sad because I really wanted this bag and now when I look at it I only remember the bad experience I had..
