Hi, ladies!

I have a beautiful 18k white gold diamond engagement ring that looks almost exactly like this:

DH and I got married five years ago, and we couldn't afford the kind of band I wanted, not to mention that the basket of my ring sticks out and the jeweler recommended custom to prevent anything from scraping or hiding all the diamond/filigree work on the side of my ring.

Well, fast forward 5 yrs and due to the economy and whatnot, we still can't afford a tiffany swing-ring (my ideal wedding band). I was considering buying this instead and wearing on of these stackables with it.

Will it look dumb since it's a sterling silver CZ?

I need honest opinions but I just really wish I had an appropriate band so I look more ''married!'' KWIM?

Here's the ones I'm considering wearing until I can get a REAL wb.

I don't think it's dumb idea at all. The economy has forced most of us to "rethink" big ticket items and if you are in love with the rings then go for it! I personally love stackables and almost thought about them before I decided to just do a reset.

It won't look dumb...the metals are fairly similar and if you lose a stone or lose a ring, it's not a huge loss.

I'd say go for it!!! :smile1:

It's late! People will come :D
I don't think it's a bad idea, those are pretty!
I do wonder about the wear they may have on your ring though{?}

I agree w/ Swanky..i've heard mixing silver/silver plated with 14K white gold or whatever is not good for the metals.

I know some people wear their wedding sets w/ the Deco rings and it does look good and updated, but I wouldn't recommend wearing it every day. I wear my deco rings on the right hand and wear my wedding set on the left. My friend also sometimes just wears her deco rings on her ring finger when she doesn't want to wear her expensive set.

Oh gosh, I didn't even think about the metals scratching each-other. Is that just because this would be 18K against plated silver? Or does that happen between any two metals?

Also, does anyone know where I can get a better alternative wedding band than the S&D? I have to find something with some ''flow'' in it---not a solid, straight edge b/c it will hit the basket where my stone is.

I'm just stressed b/c NOTHING goes with this ring and even a custom would hide one side of it, not to mention the cost that we just can't afford.

One of the ladies at work was going on and on about how for the longest time she didn't even know I was married b/c I didn't have a band!

The jewler where we bought my e-ring said the designer didn't design it with a band, so he'd recommend buying a wedding band for my right hand and wearing it there.

So confused!!!!!

Have you just thought about a plain white gold band? You can get those fairly inexpensively from either online retailers or even your local mall jewelry store. If you got one that was fairly thin (say 2mm or 3mm) you probably wouldn't be spending more than $100 for 14kt white gold. I saw an 18kt white gold one for about $150 at one of my local mall jewelry stores.

There may be a slight gap where the band hits the basket, but at least then you have the band look you are trying to achieve.

That's good advice, Cady. Thank you!

I just wonder (since I've never worn two rings on one finger) if that will cause scratching between the two golds, or is that ok since they are both white gold?

I really can't have (nor do i want) anything soldered, because I like the option of having two rings to wear, but I also don't want to cover up the side of me e-ring.

The scratching I can't really answer...I defer that to someone to someone else...however, I would think since it's the same gold, it would be alright?

I mean millions of women wear plain bands with their erings - I can't see WHY it wouldn't work.

I also agree with the no soldering, I like having options!!!

Yes, having options is great! Plus I feel like soldering ''ruins'' the aesthetic element of my ring--it's a very pretty ring and stands alone nicely as far as design goes. It's just that it's a thin, small ring and I feel like my finger is naked!

So I see your wedding is coming up in May. Congrats!!!!!!!! Did you decide on a band yet?

Well, thank you, thank you! I'm up to my eyeballs in wedding planning!!! It's all rather driving me slowly insane, but the end result is worth it!

I actually am getting my ring reset....I had the d*mndest time trying to find a wedding band that I felt fit well with my current ring so I'm in the process of a reset!

I posted this thread a bit ago on it!

WOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Okay, you've got 3 times the bling I do. You are so lucky! LOL I love it. Good choice. It will look great.

Awww...thank you! Your ring isn't so shabby either! I actually love Fay Cullen stuff...though I don't think their customer service is very good.

Your ring is absolutely beautiful!!
