Scarves Autumn/Winter 2020 scarves

Looking for some input - I purchased an Exposition Universelle in the noir/vert/jaune cw, but H.com hasn’t shipped it yet. I am considering cancelling the order, because I was browsing on a resale site and fell in love with the A l’Ombre des Pivoines. These are two totally different scarves and I’m very torn, but after buying four other scarves this season I really only can take one. I’d appreciate anyone’s insight on the Exposition, or maybe some additional modeling pics!

What type of scarf are you looking for? Exposition Universelle is fun and young, definitely for casual outfit and maybe business casual. The other scarf looks like it is more suited for business casual and feels more refined.

There were some scarves that I really wanted from past seasons but in the end I decided to focus on what is available in store now because I can always find something I like in every season and Hermes brings back old designs once in a while, though not in the exact same color or format.

On the other hand, If you think you will regret not getting exposition universelle in the future and look for it on resale market then I think you should keep the E.U. and buy l’ombre des pivoine later. If you can wait, you will come across another l’ombre des pivoine in resale market.

I would do l’ombre de pivoines! Exposition will still be available in store for the year and a half/two years, hopefully in the CW you desire, and if not then a WWS could be an option. I have not sighted L’ombre in store for a while and there are very limited CWs online...so I say go for it!!!

I did! I emailed Hermès to cancel my order. I have an Animapolis in a colorway that I adore and a Cosmographia CSGM, and I love both of those patterns more than the Exposition. I realized that if I was having second thoughts at all, it wasn’t the scarf for me. And like you said, I’m sure it will be lingering online well into next year!

Thanks for your thoughts! I ended up emailing Hermès to cancel the Exposition. It does have a very fun and cool vibe, almost like a comic book. I like that, but I tend to skew towards pretty pretty, or a bit more fairytale whimsical (probably why my favorite scarf purchase this season is La Legende de la Foret). The Pivoines checked those boxes for me and I’m thrilled!

I actually like the Twilly of Exposition better than I liked the 90, so will most likely be picking up one of those when I go in for my appointment this week.
Maybe that’s a more reasonable way of having both?

I agree - the twilly is very cute and not so busy! That is a great suggestion!

I’m very excited to see what CW you fell in love with! I think you made the smart choice and you can always pick up Exposition next season should you change your mind and decide that you really love it and must have it!

Yay, you totally made the right call - Pivoines is getting hard to find and demanding high resale prices so I am glad you nabbed it! You will have time to be able to get EU later. Congrats on Pivoines! It’s soooo beautiful!

I'm just such a sucker for purple and red and it looks like plumes reads more pink/purple while phoenix reads more red? also I never wear phoenix with navy, just goes better with black and looks like plumes is made for navy? *talkingmyselfintoit* what do you guys think?

They are both beautiful on you and they are different enough to support you having both. I think the plumes would be fabulous with denim, black leather and even white in the summertime. Follow your heart. Best of luck deciding.

Gosh, @blydia, that Plumes CSGM is positively stunning on you with so much purple and blue in it, and much larger feathers, making it appear almost like abstract art the way you have folded it to wear. I think Plumes looks significantly different from your Phoenix, and that you have justification for adding it to your collection. Good luck with your decision.

if you can envision completely different uses for the scarves then it totally makes sense to have both! The plumes has way more color range and it seems like you’ll get a ton of use out of it.
