Dear Authenticators,
I recently purchased a pair of Ugg’s for my little girl off of eBay. Neither shoe has the authenticity tag, and they did not come with a box. There are two different colors of lining also. The seller said they are a sample shoe directly from Decker’s. Will you please take a look? Thank you!
Item: Ugg Neumel II chukka boot

Sorry but we don’t do Chinese footwear unless @BeenBurned sees this. She’s expert on Uggs. There’s a simple test however. The lining must be genuine shearling if they’re authentic. Just pull out a bit of the fuzz and burn it in your sink. If they’re genuine it will burn to ash and smell like burnt wool or hair. If it burns to a hard little ball then it’s synthetic and they’re counterfeit. They honestly look OK to me.
OMG! I'm so sorry that I missed this request. I haven't been getting updates for the AT Shoes subforum and hadn't thought to check it for months! Most of the shoes asked about aren't in my area of expertise and @shuze and @audreylita are much better than I.

I apologize.

It's probably too late for the purchase authentication but I have a couple of comments.

The Neumel Chukka boots look good to me based athough I've never seen that particular colorblock color combination and the missing style number on the label is odd. The number under the S/N has an unusual (@) symbol but I've never seen a "sample" so that and the missing style number might be a "sample" thing. Everything else looks right.

More important to point out is that Uggs/Deckers is now using what they call "Ugg Pure" which they claim is a more responsible way to avoid using virgin wool. it's made of some type of recycled wool products.

They also use synthetics that look and feel like fleece (Ugg Plush). I've seen it in Koolaburra by Ugg and IMO, it's not as high a quality material as shearling and (again, my opinion), current Koolaburra quality isn't as good as Uggs.

I'm not sure how the burn test would work on these materials, but it's a no longer valid test of whether an item is genuine Uggs.

I bought a pair of Aquazzura mini Tequila 105 sandals last week from Net-a-Porter. They were the last one available and just happened to be in my size. Like that ever happens to me with size 37. So I was pretty excited to get them at 40% off.
They dispatched from a store in Italy, rather than from the warehouse, but arrived super fast.
It wasn't until I was taking them to the cobbler to have them soled, that I took a closer look and realised that either the Aquazzura artisans are getting really slack, they were somehow worn already without scuffing up the sole, or they weren't authentic.

My red flags were that the outer sole doesn't look quite flush with the shoe itself, particularly around the toe box, there appears to be glue residue along the outer edges between the inner and outer sole areas, the leather is actually coming away on the top left part of the left sandal, and the joins just look a bit... dodgy.

This would be my first pair of Aquazzuras, so I have nothing to compare them to, but I do know that at the price they go for, I'd expect them to be a lot more well made than they appear. I have many pairs of Valentino, Miu Miu and Prada shoes, none of which have looked this thrown together.

I would love if some might have a chance to check out the attached photos and let me know what you think. I've contacted Net-a-Porter and they're "investigating".

Many thanks,
Jen.

I definitely think they could be cleaner but I also think they’re authentic. @audreylita.

Agreed, thinking they're authentic.

Thank you, that is good to know. I think I'll still be sending them back, as it's a hell of a lot of money for shoes which aren't perfect. I really didn't expect that they wouldn't be legit, I don't think I've ever heard of Net-a-Porter selling anything which wasn't the real deal.
Update just now: Net-a-Porter came back with an apology and had already set the return process in motion for me. So it seemed like they were in agreement with them being not up to par.
Your input is very much appreciated, even if it appears that I took the decision to keep them or not, out of my own hands by questioning them with the seller site. I guess they just weren't meant to be!

Aquazzura shoes are hand made and as such each shoe can take months to craft. Handmade shoes of course can have slight nuances from shoe to shoe which does not affect its quality. I’ve been buying Manolo Blahnik’s since the 80’s and they are famously hand made and as such there can be a slight difference here and there. For me personally, this has never been an issue. It’s the same with very high end hand bags that are hand made. Machine made items tend to be much more consistent in visuals such as this. It’s all a matter of personal preference.
