I have a mulberry Woody chocolate messenger bag. Brand new but no receipt. It has a large (oversized) burgandy dust cover with gold/bronze tree in bottom right corner. The bag is nice but the leather has quite a heavy grain and photos of others seem more fine. Compared to other stock photos I also notice further inconsistencies. The strap ends are square stitched, whereas photos show stitching with diagonal corners. Also stock photos have metal strap loops that have square corners, these are rounded. The studs on mine seem proportionally larger also and the poppers have 'fiocchi italy' on the reverse. It has a simple unlined inner with an open pocket with a sown on logo and an ID disc. The disc has a 6 digit number on it. Afolded care card and guarantee card is inside. Do designs vary in production or should they all look exactly the same?

Hi there,

Have just bought a gorgeous chocolate Elgin, so I really shouldnt even look at another bag now.... But a Somerset in the smooth stiff leather called 'tumbled grain' (not the pebbled leather currently sold) is still at the top of my wish list, so was wondering what you think of this one? Unfortunately the seller has 0 feedback and has been strangely defensive about my questions regarding its authenticity and hasnt responded at all to my request to send additonal photos. Is it still possible to tell from the photos available whether it is real?

Hi Kriscat and All,

I earlier posted the authentication request above and finally got around to requesting additional pictures from the seller of the Mulberry disc /serial number and the magnetic clasp. (This is my first time posting pictures, so I hope they are there!) One other thing I wanted to ask about was the buckled strap at the front of the bag. The buckle holes appear to start lower on the strap than I have seen in other Alana's. Is that cause for concern?
