I would say it’s not genuine. The screws on the MCM plate are etched in the plate for starters. The screws are usually real screws.

Not sure about the Made in Hong Kong? I thought all vintage bags were made in Munich? (this for sure is vintage) Current bags are made inKorea

I haven’t been able to find anything at all so far, but sent an inquiry to MCM. Hope they answer it! Anyone else have an opinion? Can anyone read the interior leather tag? It seems to name a designer. Thank you all for taking a look.

Hi - I purchased an MCM logo bag at an estate sale. It is a tall briefcase style flapover messenger. Interior flap embossed logo includes "Handmade in West Germany." Other details:

• Strap, handle, underside of flap are genuine leather.
• Logo has correct number of leaves.
• Interior is vinyl coated and cracking especially on creases of sides.
• Underside of shoulder pad on strap has a hole and appears synthetic.
• Zipper has MCM on both sides.
• Underside of flap hardware embossed Made in Italy.
• Plaque screw has green oxidation and plaque has base metal showing.
• Not sure how to describe exterior which is heavy waterproof synthetic.
• 15" tall by 11" wide and 3 lbs when empty.

Any info on why it is authentic or not, approx age, approx value are appreciated.
